LCI iDrive system question

Hi guys, I am looking at E60 LCI model and I know they changed to CIC in 2009 in E90, and E60 got new style buttons as well, but my question is why the system interface looks like the same as a pre LCI one? Does E60 not receive CIC but just the buttons?

E60 got full CIC as of March 2009 builds. From September 2008 until March 2009, E60s had the CCC unit with the CIC controls.

Did some more digging and you are right, they did receive CIC but for some reason the one in the video did not lol.

It is fairly easy to upgrade the CCC to CIC in the E60 LCI.

What is needed other than a CIC unit?

The CIC iDrive controller, CIC screen, optical connector from screen to unit. New trim plate under the new radio. No more dual DVD slots. Then have it coded. You can also install the combo box to the CIC and I added a CarPlay Multimedia interface to mine.

Don't waste your time on the cic. Get an Android screen and go from there.

The issue with the Android option is that a lot of OEM control functions requiring iDrive are no longer supported. It is a cheaper option but you get what you pay for. The CIC with an MMI keeps the OEM functionality and has all the modern features of the latest BMWs
