Purl has 250,000 now.

So I’m a fucktard and missed the actual 250,000 but this is what I do have to share. What is the mileage record on here?

That’s awesome. You should share what kind of maintenance schedule you’ve been following. Really curious to see how 150-250k went for you. I’m sitting around 164k right now

250,000 miles at 18mpg is around 14,000 gallons of fuel. At $5 per gallon (SoCal), that’s around $70k in fuel costs life of the car. I bet worth every penny. Congrats 🎉

Hey guys my maintenance is kinda fuzzy at this point but I have posted on the things that actually failed in the past. I cannot recall the mileage perfectly but this is a list of actual failured parts as best I can recount. There have been repairs to things I broke via road issues (rocks/coyotes/potholes).

-1 of 2 throttle actuators has been replaced.
-Alternator
-Battery
-RB’s twice
-Fuel breather valve
-Water pump
-Oil housing gasket
-1 of 8 ignition coils
-Trans pan/pickup
-Velocity joint of driveshaft

Oil changes every 5k
Trans fluid every 100k
Coolant every June
Diff fluid every 50k

Really great stuff, thanks for posting it. I’ve got 60k miles on a set of Vac rod bearings and trying to decide if I replace again. No clear recommendation on the s65.

Interesting that 7 of 8 ignition coils are still original. Other platforms, like the b58 recommend routine mileage replacements of the coils but I’m inclined to run to failure given the cost. I would say your experience supports.

I assume that means the injectors are also original? Ever serviced?

Original valve cover gaskets?

You’ve got a good one! Can you tell us a bit about your driving style, freeway miles, tracking the vehicle?

No injector service but I run Chevron fuel injector cleaner every oil change. Stock everything still excluding KW HAS kit. I do have a persistent 27B0 but I’m dragging my feet looking into it. It’s either exhaust manifold leak (inaudible at this point) or clogged up secondary air port on bank 1. ALL secondary air related piping, pump and valves are good. My driving style is no different then others I presume except I don’t use launch control. I drive 80mph everywhere lol. I’ve tracked maybe 8 times. One thing I do daily is drive under 3k until up to temp. That’s about it. I do think a 1-2 minute warm up FROM COLD is paramount but that’s only my 2 cents. I am aware the manual doesn’t mention a warm up out really.

Well yes they showed wear on them that is not typical in most motors but the S65 revs high and gets driven hard by most as well it’s not a typical motor. In my mind it’s a 100k service to consider.

I’m sure you will. Enjoy the car and take care of it just like any other. They aren’t made of glass like so many claim. Obviously it’s not a Honda but proper care and treatment keeps them working as designed.

That’s great to see and is testament to these great engines and your service schedule.

I’m sure there must be some 300k+ milers out there somewhere.

In the UK, these are the highest (and lowest) milers, based on the annual statutory check (MOT). Data as of yesterday,…
