How many suitcases will it hold?
I was just imagining picking up family or friends form the airport or playing some golf with the boys but couldn't help but notice how small and narrow the trunk is. The car is small as well. It has smaller dimensions than a Mazda 3 sedan. Anyone concerned about the size of the car overall?

I'm not too worried about the size of the car. I had a daily driven S2000 for almost 2 years, talk about no space, haha. So to me, the 135i has plenty of space. I don't like big cars anyway so I'm glad this one is smaller than a mazda 3 sedan

I know that statistic on the Ford 500 - it's three, with enough ice to keep them from smelling on a cross country trip. You might be able keep a couple of dozen dead cats iced down in the trunk of the 135, or maybe a dwarf goat. ; -)

lol, I agree if all you are going to do is race. But are there any young professionals out there? Who use the car also for other things like drivign your freinds golfing. Driving friends around? Go to the airport to pick up ppl and their luggage.
I can appreciate that the car can go 0-100 in 5 seconds, but you are also paying money for a "functional" vehicle too. As long as it can hold up to two suitcases in teh back then I'm sold. And gold clubs and hockey gear too....not at the same time though. |

I put two weeks worth of gear in the back of my Miata on a tour of the west in 2003 - 4000 miles in two weeks, including a suit so I could attend the AFAS gathering at the Pebble Beach Concours. And I've been able to throw a regulation set of clubs in the trunk of the Miata. The 135i has almost three times the trunk space of the Miata AND a back seat. Don't know how you pack but I think your luggage needs are covered. : -)

I had a look at an A3 once; My sticks wouldn't fit w/o pulling the woods out of the bag, or folding the rear seat. I'm used to pulling the woods to get the bags in my roady, but it'd be nice if they fit directly.

The 335xi sedan with auto sounded great, because practicality has been my mind set for some time. At $48K though it was a bit more than I wanted to put towards a car. Now I am in love with a RWD stick coupe. I have two sedans and a Jeep for off roading. I have all the functionality I need. The 135i is going to be for nothing but daily fun.

As a comparo, I did my European Delivery of my e90 330i with my wife and two teens, with luggage for 4, for a two week vacation, and it fit in the 16 cu foot e90 trunk. If the e82 has a 13 cu foot, that's not as bad as I expected.
Since the rear track is nearly identical between the two cars, I assume that the difference would be the depth of the space, since there is a length difference between the two cars. |

Tell your friends to take a CAB. You don't want the luggage weighing you down!

Just for fun ask the salesman or client advisor to climb into the truck to verify that he'll fit.

lol the thing that's holding me back from considering this car, besides the pricing are the extra seats at the back!
the thing is, my friends are already leeching off me for rides in my current car and my original plan was to get the 350Z so i would have less friends to leech off me lol But this car is way too tempting and the styling is fresher than the Z. hopefully my friends have their own rides by the time this thing comes out. |
