Exclamation Overheating problems?

I've read reports of overheating problems with the 335i. Is this only at track events? I suppose this would affect the 135i also. Anyone have any news regarding this? Thanks

If you get the 135i with the sports pkg, it comes with dual oil coolers. The first 335i's had overheating troubles, but BMW took care of it.

You get the wheel well oil cooler on ALL 135i's regardless of the Sport Pkg.

May I ask where you got this information? I haven't read anywhere of the sport pkg including a oil cooler. I am aware of the standard single cooler in the passenger wheel well, but if there is a second one that would be even better.

The second one is the one in the passenger wheel wheel well. The primary is centered with the intercooler.

Even some of the 335i with the cooler in the wheel well go into limp mode from what I've read. It's a safety mechanism written into the software so the engine doesnt grenade itself. I havent heard what oil temps the 135i is seeing around here though.

From Bimmerfest reports, BMW engineers say it (N54) should run 250 degrees F or higher in normal operational conditions for oil temps. I've not read anyone griping about exceeding that who had the oil cooler. With two coolers on the 135i, hopefully BMW fixed the problem (the engine cooling capacity was maxed, throw in two turbos and a smaller engine compartment, etc. - bad juju). I haven't read anything from anyone griping about high oil temps.
