What MPG is everyone getting?
Just wondering what people that have gotten the car are getting....?
I currently get 28mpgs on my car... wondering if I can keep close to those numbers? I will get a 128i and drive 75% highway. |

mostly stop and go traffic some mixed ... about 20mpg .. no highway trips yet .. it is hard to get good gas mileage during the breaking period

I've averaged 17.1 mpg.
I assume with time this will improve. I'm driving like a madman currently ... all city traffic.

not really as good as i would have thought but sounds like most of you are in the city and being generous with the throttle (not that i could actually constrain myself either). curious, what rpm are you at in 6th at around 70mph?
interested to hear from any 128 owners.. |

Relax...these cars aren't even broken in yet. With modern engines the mileage (and performance) tends to improve up until 3-5k miles.
Not to mention, how would you be driving a new 135 if you'd only had it for a week or two? |

R&T's data panel shows 60 mph at 2200 rpm. My speedometer shows about 62-3 at 2200, not as much error as I might have expected. MPG, virtually all on open roads but at moderate speeds (not much over 80, not all that often) and with fairly gentle acceleration, is 23.5.

Man, you guys must be getting on it!? I've got almost 1300 miles and my overall mileage is still 24.7 MPG. Granted, it was almost all highway miles and I never took it over 4000 (well, OK 4500) RPM but still!?

My driving is a mixture of 70% highway, 30% city. I've gotten 23.2 on the first tank, 23.8 on the second, 23.5 on the third... While I haven't been beating on it by any means, I haven't been grannying along either - esp when it comes to accelerating. Under similar driving conditions, my RX-8 was between 19 and 20.
I've found the instant MPG read-out to be very useful in determining which gear I should be using, say, in my sub-division. Also, when at highway speed, the cruise control does a remarkable job of conserving fuel. |
