So I test drove the 1er...
Kinda wish I hadn't because now I have to start thinking about ordering one and the idea of waiting 3 months for a car sucks..
The car is quite simply awesome. Having so much power(and torque, yea, i forgot torque owning a non-turbo rotary for 4 years) on tap is just fantastic and the steering was way more responsive than I expected. But then this question came up... should I wait for the 09 model year? If I were to order today, I was looking at a July delivery date. When does BMW historically start shipping their new model years? Fall? And then there was the transmission question... I have a manual now, and I looking at a manual for this car but they didn't have one to test drive. I must say, the automatic with paddle shifters was quite a lot of fun. I would prefer a dual clutch gearbox and the dealer said the M3 would be getting one next year, so why not the 1? Anyone know if BMW has any plans to drop a DSG style gearbox into the 1? What do you all think? Thanks, Ajax |
