I got an agressive test drive today while waiting for my car...Oh my!
The Car: 135i Coupe <getting vert but it's all they had, hehe>
Ya know, this car is just stupid fast. I got with a sales guy that stated as we were cursing at 80mph, "open it up and see what it will do!" Oh my. I went from 80mph to 120mph so fast it was unreal. At 120mph my butt was still being pushed into the back of my seat when I finally got off the throttle. No turbo lag, sick torque and still pulling like a fright train when I finally got off it. The Good: -So fast yet still feels lite. Do we really need the Dinan flash? lol -Heavy and Fat steering. I can palm a basketball and I swear BMW made this wheel for me -Body roll? Really? I did a very fast U turn which almost got the back end out and we felt no body roll or push. I guess on the track you might sense it, but IMO this is simply a non-issue. -No issues with headroom....none. I am 6'3" with most of my height in upper torso. -38" waist and the sport seats simply fit me better then the 335i seats. No idea why. -Excellent Leather quality -The Coupe looks so nice in person vs pictures. The Vert? So classy and sexy. I got to see a Jet Black and Alp White Vert right next to each other. The AP is nice, but the JB was GORGEOUS. Bad: -Interior trim was semi cheap looking. -Base Stereo was...meh. Not bad, just meh. I ordered the premium version, not sure if it will be much better. -Jump and bumpy on rough roads. I found this to be a good thing bad thing. Plush this car is not, but the steering is telepathic. No hesitation, but you can definitely feel the shorter wheel base and sport suspension. -DON'T RELY ON BMW'S WEBSITE TO CHOOSE YOUR INTERIOR COLOR OR TRIM. I can't stress this enough. I did not get the Bosten grey because on their website it looked almost blueish. I then saw it today in person on a Vert and it looked phenomenal...and very much grey not blue. The Taupe looked good, but was a little to light for me. I called and switched to Bosten grey and am very glad I did. Do yourself a favor and don't rely on pictures or bmw's website....GO to the dealer and look for yourself. After finally getting an aggressive test drive I am sold hook line and sinker. Honestly, I think once more 1's get out on the streets, BMW is going to have these cars back ordered 6 months. Such a freaking Rocket.

Great review...I'm considering going for a 2nd test drive myself. I can't wait another month and a half. Pure bliss though when you pick her up I'm sure.

Oh my, indeed. That is exactly what I said, or something to that effect, when I drove my first 135. If you allow it, the little monster will scare you half to death.

how odd. this is the first time, in a very long time, that the sales person came with you on the test drive...
usually, the guy just gives me the car to whichever car i want to test drive. |

I've never had that happen, they always come. At least this guy was happy to let me drop the hammer...and I did, lol.

any drive pushing this car will be a fun ride... reading post like this just make the wait for mine even harder... maybe I should go into hibernation for the next few weeks.

Great read. I agree about seeing the interiors in person.
The Coral and grey poplar looks awesome in person. The Coral isn't as bright, and the poplar wood looks so great, REAL wood, and looks like it. |

I was not a fan of the Coral when I saw it on the website, but in person it looks really good. Aggressive! But good.
