Very Upset - My 135 is here but...
...has a scratch on it!!! I was out of town when it was delivered last week. I flew in this AM (Sunday) and went to the dealership to see if it was outside. It was -- and it has a friggin scratch on the front bumper!! They were closed and I'll call first thing Monday...
There was also quite a bit of break dust on the wheels. If there is more than 4 miles on the car I'm telling them to shove it. As for the scratch, I don't know what to do... I'm very upset after waiting so long. I ordered a NEW car. Not one with 5 or 10 miles that some dealership employee took a wild ass joy-ride in and scratched.

At least your car is here . My car was dropped off at S.C. on the 11th and still hasn't made it to the VPC yet. I asked my SA and she told me that dispatch said the port was "extremely congested". I believed that until one of our other members, Texas, got his already, and he was on the same boat with me :iono:. Plus he lives in Austin, which is farther away. Seems to wierd.....

I would accept the car ONLY if they can repair the scratch to your complete satisfaction. And that would be your call as to the quality of the repair (like you can't tell that it was ever there).
They should not be able to sell you "damaged goods". Now...you have to make the decision. If you don't want to accept it you may have to re-order the car and wait for it's replacement. If so, maybe the dealer can cut you a deal on the replacement car. Good luck with this. I'm hoping that the dealer will be able to complete a satisfactory repair. More than likely they can. I'm sure they have methods in place to deal with this kind of situation and do it routinely.

No, but the front wheels have a good bit of brake dust on them (not a good sign). I will find out the miles in the AM and see if my fears are valid. I'm just expecting the worst after seeing that scratch... A little OCD here, but that car should not have a mark on it or brake dust on the wheels.

I guess I got lucky! No scratches and 1.6 miles on the odometer at delivery. It had less than 1 mile when it was backed off the truck, according to the porter, but you know they had to do the state inspection, and fuel it up, etc...
Enough about me, you have every right to be pissed. I hope the dealer steps up and makes you happy.

yep....good point about the brake dust.
My car had 10 miles on it when I got it. Never saw it before they preped it. Any brake dust on mine would have been cleaned off. Let us know how it goes...and good luck

Are you sure it's your car? I have never heard of a dealer leaving a pre-delivered customers car outside where the public has access to it out of hours. It may be a demo with similar spec to yours. Lets hope so!

The VIN number is on the back where the rear license plate goes. You can check that.

as for the bumper depending on how big it is I'd have them replace it, if they dont the best thing you can do (worst thing for them) is submit a bad rating all 0 or 1 star. |

That is unacceptable! I'm interested to find out how many miles are on the car.

I would be very upset if there is over 10 miles on the clock and the scratch must be repaired to your satisfaction alone with a hefty discount for the trouble.

hi jchandler, sorry to hear about this. i hope that there is a simple explanation for both things: the scratch and the brake dust. anyone know if there is a thread about tips for taking delivery specific to our cars? found nothing in the search.

It's not beyond the realm of possibility that the car was damaged in transport and was missed during the inspection when it was offloaded from the boat (where they'd fix damaged cars in transport, a common incident). The dealership should repair it to your satisfaction or allow you to refuse delivery of the car and get you another one ordered, but I would imagine your biggest bargaining power that you have will be on the repaired car already here. Ordering again is an option, but they won't be obligated to give you a discount on that one since they also offered to repair the car to your satisfaction.
If the dealership damaged it, you might have some more leverage than if it arrived on the lot damaged. I could see a small discount, but I wouldn't expect anything too hefty. If it was BMW's fault, I'd probably see what the fixing options are, and what kind of deal they can cut me. If it's the dealership's fault, and they don't want to budge all that much, I'd refuse the car and re-order from somewhere else. Don't want to go 2,3,4, or 5 years of my life knowing that the car was damaged from the start. |
