Are you saying your dealer sold you the car for $1K over MSRP?

That is the way it typically works. Most people buy automatic transmissions, so when dealerships order their cars they will go with a 75/25 mix of auto/manual, or whatever ratio the market is going for with that car. So, most the cars on the dealer floor will be automatics.
Personally, this time I ordered an auto. It will be the first sports car that I will own with an auto, I hope I enjoy it. I am simply tired of getting caught in really bad traffic with a stick and the county was kind enough to add approximately 6 lights so far on my drive to work...to add more access to the new toll way  |

I don't know any BMW dealers who order stick shifts. Every time I see a new manual bimmer on the lot I am told it was a custom build and the person backed out of the deal. |

Well, if you wanted the auto, and are getting the manual - rent a beater Maunal from AVIS, learn to drive stick, and enjoy the perfect BMW driver experience. Be one with the road. Be one with the... 1.
You will thank us for it! |

Manual/Standard is the way to go with the 135i IMO. Granted that's not to say people SHOULDN'T buy an automatic. I'd never owned a manual car before, and had very little exposure to it. If I can take the crash-course in learning to drive a stick in Germany, I think you'll be fine on the streets here.
