Central NJ BMW Dealers

Does anyone have any experience with BMW dealers in the Central, NJ/NJ area that would be willing to give a $800-$1000 over invoice price (plus tax/title/registration) on a BMW 135i?

It seems that the effects of our weak economy have not hit here yet and my experiences with Open Road BMW, Circle BMW, and Freehold BMW in trying to purchase a 135i have yielded no dealer interest at my price range.

I tried the method mentioned on another post of sending in a fax with the price I want to pay and I was told to drop by the dealership for negotiation, where they asked for MSRP. I also did this via BMW's build to order/comments section to no dealer interest.

I am willing to try dealers as far as 500 miles away if it increases my chances of getting the car. Are their any dealers in North or South Jersey, maybe even Pennsylvania that I would have any luck with?

What other tactics would you recommend? I have been scouring over the threads in this post yet still all the dealers around me are being quite stubborn.

I am looking for a Jet Black 135i with Black Leatherette and the sport package along with heated and power seats.

Thanks for the help!

I wasn't able to get very far in negotiating down the price at the places I went in Jersey either, probably because if they don't sell it to you, they'll find someone else pretty quickly around here. My guess is your best bets will be either in southern Jersey or PA if you want to get anything more than $1k off MSRP without significant amounts of your time being eaten up by haggling.

Personally, I feel that my time and the amount of gas wasted going back and forth to a faraway dealer trump any amount of savings you might get by going to them though. IMHO, if you talk down a nearby dealer by $500-1000, you'll end up about even with getting $1500-2000 off at a dealer 500 miles away. Just my $.02.

Anyway, good luck in your search!

vgame,

Try giving ParkAveBMW a call and ask for CA, Jon S.

From the several NJ and PA dealerships I contacted, he quoted me the best deal of all (in writing via e-mail).
It was a little too far for me so I decided on another dealer closer to home.

Dealerships in South Jersey had a difference of about 386.00 (more) than ParkAveBMW.

The problem w/ with some of the dealerships in the central NJ area is they know someone will come along and pay above MSRP because the 1 is in high demand and people around here have the money to burn.

I originally tried offering $$ above invoice; ended up offering $$ below MSRP to close the deal.

END RESULT: About $1,060.00 below MSRP - Including all my options, tax, etc. etc. etc).

I've lived in both countries, North & South Jersey Seriously, Bergen county (Hillsdale) for a couple of years and then moved to Cherry Hill for a year before finally settling here in Maryland for the foreseeable future. North NJ dealers suck and I've read a lot of horror stories about Park Ave. If it's not too much of a hike, I'd give DiSimone in Mt. Laurel a shot. From Princeton, it's a straight shot down 295. I was going to pull the trigger on a 330i a couple of years ago and the sales advisor there was at least up front and honest. Service department doesn't get dinged too badly from what I see on the forums. $0.02.

Well I appreciate all the advice. I will give DiSimone, Park Ave, and some PA dealers a call tomorrow...hopefully with some positive results to report back!
