Thumbs down FUEL PUMP problem

Any one else experiencing starting difficulties on there 135"s.

Every now and then when I hit the ignition button it cranks over about 6 times before starting..

Then today I was in second gear at about 4K RPM and when I accelerated it just lagged...BIG TIME..nothing happened, like the engine was starving for fuel.

Does this sound like the fuel pump problem that they had on the 335i?:iono:

I think it unfortunately sounds EXACTLY like the fuel pump issue!

You really would have thought BMW would have sorted it by now.....either voluntarily, or done a recall.

Hope its sorted for the latest builds.

Ahhhh...Thats what I dreaded..

I have noticed severall times under heavy acceleration that the engine pulls back as if I was holding the revs steady..

Looks like I will be giving them a call tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that zuzu. At least it looks like a known problem that should be easily fixed.

Yeah I have had the same problem with my car. I have not noticed it when the car was running but noticed when starting ( as you say takes ages for the engine to start).

I thought it was just because my car is new and I don't drive it much so the battery was low on juice..

If it is the fuel pump it is easy fix, just change it, it is under warranty. That reminds me to order a fuel pump for my car. They are not expensive to make, and will cost BMW minimal. The one for mine is only $140. Adding the BMW premium... what it is only like $600 ?

I've read of many such fuel pump issues in other parts of the forum here, damn unfortunate, but it seems also that BMW have addressed this on the newer production batches...hope that's indeed the case...

Spoke to the service department today, and they wont make any committment to replace the fuel pump till they put her under their diagnostics.

The chap said that if it is the high pressure pump it should show up in the computer as it stores all the error codes.

My car has never shown any error codes at all.:iono:

At one stage he tried to tell me it was a bad batch of fuel and to change service stations or fuel brands..

Regardless what they say i am going to insist they replace the pump.

Sounds like a good opportunity to put a higher flowing pump in there

Yeah I here you Zuzu. I spoke with my dealer about it yesterday and he seemed to think that all the 135i's shouldn't have the problem with the fuel pump like the 335i's did. I am taking my car in next week to get my Sat Nav installed and they said they will take a look.

Hi Jase..Let me know the outcome once they run the diagnostics.

My car goes in this Thursday.

Interesting to see the two dealers results.

Yeah not a problem.

My dealer ( who is a good friend of mine) had to ask one of the tech's and that is what he came back and told me. I personally think we have the same problem but getting BMW to admit that it is the same problem is another story. I have not experienced it for a while now but I will get them to check it out all the same.

Cheers

Cool..
Considering my car is 6 weeks old, and that I only drive it on the weekends and still experience the delayed starting two or three times every weekend is not good..

My concern is, what if I was driving the car every day..

It would of gone into limp mode by now..

Spoke to the service depatment again today to clarify the situation.
Just to make sure that they have a fuel pump in stock (If that is the problem)so that I dont have to wait weeks to get the car back..

That is a good point, I should do the same. As you say you don't want to have to wait for ages for them to order the part in if that is the problem.
