Hate leather, no cloth option?
This configuration tool is driving me crazy, bmw is supposed to be one of the best for configuring your car how you want it, when I ordered my mini it was great, whatever I wanted it let me do it.
why is there no cloth option? I hate leather/leatherette cloth grips much better Why cant I get auto mirrors without the premium package? the only thing out of that package that I want is the mirrors, I dislike bmw's manual mirrors The 135i sure seems like a drivers car, but these option packages are not does anyone know if 2009 add any more options? |

Mega,
You were spoiled like me when we ordered our Minis. I got the cloth seats on my 03 MCS which are really great in hot weather. Unfortunately some of these option are Euro only. Go to bmw.de and drive yourself crazy with all the stuff we don't get. |

ok this is completely unfair
they have LOTS more colors, rims, interior, trim choices and it looks like every option from the packages can be individually added even the canadians get Anthracite headliners and can remove the sunroof |

I think you are preaching to the choir here.
I know I would have liked cloth seats, different wheel choices, the //M sport package, aluminum trim (in the convertible), auto dimming mirror as a separate option and lots of more things I didn't get even though I was willing to pay for them. But what ya gonna do, eh? |

And the crazy thing is that all 1ers are built at the Leipzig plant so it's not like there would be huge logistics problem with giving us the Euro options. I'd love to be in these meetings were people decide we don't get Lemans Blue, or the M-sport package, or cloth/leather combo seats, or etc., etc. Aaaaagh!

As much as I'd also love the cloth seats, I doubt we'll see BMW offering them in the USA anytime soon. They are rightly very protective of their premium brand status here and most Americans don't view cloth upholstery as in-line with a premium brand. Have you ever seen cloth seats on a Mercedes, Lexus, Infinity, etc?

I guess I'm a performance shopper, not a luxury shopper, I would never buy a merc, lexus, or infinity
the g37 is nice, but the 135i beats it on almost every stat & measurement |

Remember BMW NA LLC is a quasi-independent sales arm of BMW AG - their job is to protect the brand image in this market in order to maximize sales. ; -)
Now as to leather being more luxurious then cloth, it used to be the other way around. The chauffeur sat on the leather seat (exposed to the elements) while the passengers sat in the enclosed section of the car on the best embroidered seats available. PS - that's a Rolls Sedanca de Ville pictured. |

You and me both - I've thought about heading to an upholstery shop and having the middle panels of the seats replaced with cloth.

I hear you man. Dallas here and my 135 has black leatherette. It wasn't bad in 80-degree Germany weather but I'm scared it's gonna burn my butt off in this Dallas heat! Cloth would have been cool but what can ya do...

Um, I think you'll find he meant $164,092 US! The base price of a 135i coupe in Norway is 782,600 NOK.
And I thought Belgian pricing sucked...
