Cozza, who knows. Perhaps BMS or someone will offer a tune and intake for your motor up to 130i specs (195kw) I hear it talked about.

Well done Kris..you guys are setting the pace .. not many stockies left it looks like !
I am actually surprised they didn't release the 125i in 130i engine spec. Marketing departments hard at work again !

I guess they wanna make the 130i still sell! I think the coupe is a nicer looking shape over the hatch. Perhaps BMW agree

I think the hatch and the coupe sell to a different market. Then again, I am not in marketing ( thankfully )

Just to add a little more info to that. I remember talking to Guy Harding (APR) and asking him why DMS chip upgrade was different between the 323 and 325 ( given that they are both 2.5L inline six's). Guy told me that there were internal changes to the engine so you can't get the same power out of the 323 2.5 as you can out of the 325 2.5.

Hopefully cozza will be able to chip to the 130i's 195kw but it all depends on what if any internal changes have been made from the 125i 3.0L to the 130i 3.0L. I have not been checking the 125 forum so if they have already covered this I am sorry..

Cheers

Jase, I'm told the differences are the ECU and also the Inlet manifold area... Thats at least on the Coupe

Jase, have you asked Guy about a 135i tune from DMS? I hear there is something there too. But knowing DMS, it will be expensive. I am going to get Guy to flash my C63 using DMS when I manage to get a LSD on the car.

Professor: hehe!

Wayne, that's the plan. We'll see , you'll see dynos when I have them

xa-coupe: I guess, the hatch never appealed to me at all. The fact a coupe came out that looks far better imo was pure luck

Cheers Kris, there you go. I was just using the 323 and 325 as examples but you guys get the point..

Sorry WAY I asked Guy this question ages ago when I was considering a 130i ( Before the 135 was released) cause I wanted to know how much power a chip got. I was going to get a 130 before the 135 came along.

I think Irecall him saying at that point they didn't have a chip for the 335 however.

For anyone interested the 130i chip from DMS got power from (195kw and 315nm) to 216kw and 333nm.

If those figures are true, 21kw gain from a engine that is NA is very impressive!

Yeah that is what I thought Kris!!! Coming from an NA background that is a great gain from a chip ( I am pretty sure that is right also).

When I put a Hondata Kpro in my integra that gave 20kw but that car was very conservative from the factory ( all it did was lean out the fuel map by 20%!! and add a little more ignition timing). I would have thought that the 130i would have been fairly hard to extract a lot more juice from given the performance already..

WAY, I just rang Guy then to ask about our little 135's but at the moment he said he doesn't have anything available. He took my details and said he would let me know when anything becomes available. If it becomes available.

Yeh DMS is exy, spoke to Guy (re a DMS tune) about three months ago and they were asking ~$3000 for +20kw and 60Nm on a M3. Prob is that standard DMS procedure is to send the ECU to Brisbane for the reflash/re programming. Hmmm.

Not sure if this is the same process for the 135 though.

THE CHIP IS IN and working 100% WITHOUT fault. Installation was a snap. Ill write up my impressions with extensive dyno in the next few days.

The car is a total animal, the tuner compared my dyno files with a guy I know who is running a Proceed V3. His car is a 335 which boosts more , but produces less power and was pinging. The guy that helped me with my install said the JB3 is an incredible map, uncanny stock like ability with very safe limits. He said the tune doesn't appear to stretch the engine at all and boosted to a max of 14.5psi where the proceed went over 15. The guy was SO impressed with the power and ease of install, he wants to sell the JB3

The car is a complete animal. I wont tell you the power figures yet, but they jumped to over 240 RWKW with a tune ONLY. This dyno is one of the most accurate in Australia with the owner spending almost $1m in development costs to build the facility

Its impressive to say the least! Car is code free, powerful like never before and I'm one VERY VERY HAPPY OWNER!
