Best Intake on the market

I am currently shopping around for a intake for my 135i, i search first but couldnt find anything. In your guys opinion what is the best intake on the market right now. I have heard that some intakes actually raise the temp of the oil.

If you've searched, you'll find that there is no "best intake". It's all speculative. I have the Injen and love it and probably think it's the best, but the next guy will tell you the RR is the best, etc.

Best thing to do is research each one and make the determination yourself, based on price, performace, etc which is best for your particular needs.

I'm still waiting for Dinan's to be finished. Air gets pulled from the lower driver's side bumper scoop. Seems like the best way to get cold air to me. They do like to take their time on R&D.

That's what I run, the aFe Dual Cone Intake. Been real happy with the performance, should be doing a dyno later this month.

If you are concerned about performance stick with stock. If you are running a ton of boost, look for a new fmic first. There really are no viable cai/ram options for the n54. Dynos are not very reliable for showing real-world intake performance, even with fans.

If you are concerned about the psst sound, all the aftermarket options are louder.

Edit: stett is nice if it never, ever, rains and you never, ever, wash your car. Otherwise you are getting water on your intake which saps performance. Not trying to flame, its just physics.

Personally I think they are all pretty close in performance wise.. I think you should check out pictures of them and see which one you like the look of better.. even the dual cone or just the single filter produces as much or very close numbers to the gruppe M one which is like almost 10X the price..

Stock airbox with a Macht Schnell cotton gauze filter or DCI setup for those making a bit more power up top.

Other intakes are simply eye candy and provide very little gains.

I like my Injen intake. I think it is one of the best if not the best.

Wouldn't that stop you from being able to get the BMW Performance upgrade as it uses the bumper scoop to fit another radiator ?

I really wish BMW would design something for the 135i, the one for the 128 is simply beautiful. It's carbon fiber booner galore!

I went for the AFE a year ago and have no real complaints other than a slight increase in oil temp (5 degress max in the UK)

Had it dyno'd with no tunes installed and it came in at 321Bhp. Either I have an over performing engine or the intake is actually doing something here.

What did your car dyno at before the intake? That is the missing ingredient.

Mostly looks and sound from all the intakes.

Get a dual cone... or save your money.

That's just silly. All intakes will get wet in the ran and possibly when washing the car. Yes if the filter is soaked it won't take it an as much air as easily, but once it dries it's the same old filter it was before. The oil in the filter probably keeps out some of the rain too. CAI have been used on a lot of cars, hell some off-roaders use a big snorkel with a filter on top of it that is completely exposed. If those things could never get wet without ruining their performance, who would do it?

Rain will not pose any problem to a CAI unless it is fully submerge into water. This is the risk of running a CAI, if your car came to a puddle of water and not sure how deep, you better stop and check out how deep before you ran over it. One of my friend he hydro lock his Civic with CAI while driving a puddle of 1-2 feet deep water (won't be a problem if your intake is at the hood level).

+1 Had a friend do that to his Civic as well...turned out for the best, the car became a 1/4 mile monster after an engine swap
