Long cranking...

Damnit, my car is taking longer and longer each day to start up... today it was like 5 seconds! Am I screwed???

Given the extended warranty on the HPFPs, I'd say that you are, in fact, very NOT screwed. Your dealer will know the drill. Wait for that CEL and boogie on in.

^^ Its still a pain in the a knowing that thing is gonna eventually go once those cranks start... especially for me when I drive across the state a lot...So on the convenience factor he as well as the rest of us all are screwed when this happens...

I was hoping it wouldnt happen to me... I theorized that waiting until the tank was completely empty to fill it up was causing them, so I would always fill her up right when the chime started... guess thats not the cause.

I feel ya.. I got mine replaced at about 3500 miles.. I am at 26K now and I am getting the long cranks from time to time again...

Ohh yessss.......you need to replace the HPFP ASAP. You running LEAN. Lean= melting pistons and piston rings, NOT good. Have BMW service replace ASAP.....Dont wait for codes.....when codes show up, its a day late, and a dollar short, type of thing.

^^ I agree but I have heard of people going to dealers and them saying if theres no code then there is no problem...

I dont agree with that at all but I have heard others on the board say that....

Its bs if u ask me!

yep that happened to me. no code=nothing serviced. i explained everything to them...long cranking, letter from bmwna...etc

now it cranks even longer and dies after the 1st push of the button.
