Performance exhaust burble

Anyone know why the performance exhaust burbles when you let off the throttle to slow down? It doesn't do this immediately; just when the engine reaches low rpms. Sounds nice and throaty on the throttle singing a glorious song then sounds like it's sputtering when you let go. Any fixes for this? Thanks.

Its a result of backpressure from the engine escaping through the responator.

And I love it too.

Just a quick OT. Does anybody else's perf exhaust Backfire on hard 1-2 and 2-3 shifts? Mine does every time.

It's just strange that the stock exhaust rumbles softly then turns into a hum as the car comes to a stop. I thought the performance exhaust would exhibit the same characteristic albeit at a louder volume. For a while I thought the engine was misfiring although it's not a sharp popping sound.

I wish it was louder. My '05 MCS had a Magnaflow exhaust. Lots of popping. I won't even talk about my SLP Loudmouth exhausts (straight pipes I had on my '01 Vette and my '98 Z28). I do like the peformance exhaust--ofcourse I wouldn't complain if it was louder. Nick

Completely normal for an aftermarket exhaust, my Riss has a nice burble that I love.

Def normal. All my aftermarket exhausts on my cars have exhibited this, in fact the Milltek on my RS4 more than the Supersprint on my M5 (even though both were with the resonator eliminated). It's awesome, and I miss it! Put in a check mark under the 'plus' column for the BMW Performance exhaust!

If you drove the Mini Copper JCW it does the same. In fact, it has been claimed that the manufacturer of the BMW Performance exhaust is indeed John Cooper Works, so wouldn't be surprised if both exhibit similar characteristics!

Maybe its the curse of an auto trans for me then? If I launch hard and hit every shift at around 6500 the car backfires every single time. But it only does it when I start from a standstill. Its so odd...but I do love it.

no nothing wrong with it, even my stock sport exhaust does it. perhaps not as loud at the performance one but it does it.
