Leaking Convertible Roof

Has anyone had any issues with a leaking Roof by the Rear and front side windows? Also anyone have any leaks in their trunks after parking on an inclinde with the front end pointing up?

I have had both, and both times I took it to the dealership they said its normal.

Is this normal? I had a Porsche Boxster and it never leaked.

anyone?

No leaks here.... That sounds odd. Are you planning on getting a second opinion?

So let me understand this, you only experience this when you park the car at an incline? Is this after a wash or heavy rain?

If this is true, I need to park my car at an incline to see if this happens.....

yes, on an incline around a 15 degree pitch, maybe more maybe less, Its never happend when flat and yes it was during a very rainy weekend, however the only day it leaked was the day it was on an incline. I had a large puddle on both side of the trunk on the floor under the hinges of the trunk directly under the canopy. The dealer told me to park it on flat surfaces and if I parked on an incline make sure the front end is facing downward.

Have you ever closed the front windows before the rear while moving? This can cause a misalignment - see p.28 of the '08 manual.

Was the roof up or down when it rained ?

I have found that can make all the difference!

hmm, I'm sure i've done that before therefore not creating a proper seal. I'll try it and see if it works.

I have never had a problem, but then again, never parked it on an incline of 15 degrees. Have someone spray you with ah ose as you sit in the car.....look at where the water comes from...not a lot of pressure, just as if it were raining. The window sequence also is very plausable. Also, looks for cuts and tears in the trim

I just tried your water theory, although difficult at first due to the water being sprayed directly in my face, bear in mind, this may be the alcohol talking here, but after some time I was able to determine the water was coming from the hose.

My top has never leaked. The seal between the front and rear windows has let loose a little water in a high pressure wash, but that's about it.

Water inside the car is not "normal". Never has been and never will be.

Funny you mention this...

When I just got the car, the very first week it was raining heavily and one morning I noticed a couple of drops on a front passenger seat... so I thought it may have came from a window, but than I flipped the sunvisor down and it contained more water...

Couple of days later it rained heavy again and I was parked in my wifes spot, which has a little bigger incline, and I got water in both sunvisors, not that much maybe a tablespoon full each, but still water...

I had no idea what to think, since this is my first convertible I thought I did something wrong, didn't close the roof or the windows properly. I didn't feel like going to the dealer and decided to give it couple of more rain storms.

From that point on I made sure I closed the rear windows before the front and didn't interrupt the roof closing process. For a month and a half now I don't have any water in the car and the rains were as heavy as before.

Maybe the car is adjusting itself or maybe I'll see more water in the fall... I don't know.

hmm interesting, sounds like both issues could have to do with the proper closing of the windows, I ususally use the all windows up button but maybe I'll try closing rear first then fronts. Thanks for sharing

I've had mine for over a year now and I live in a very rainy climate and have never seen a drop of water in my car that didn't occur from me opening my window when raining. Same for the trunk. I live in a very hilly area and have parked on inclines all the time during the winter.

This is not normal. Have your dealership fix it.

If that were normal, i think Vert owners in San Fran would be complaining left and right.

That shouldn't happen.

The "all up" button does close the rear windows first, and I use it to close the windows.

No, if you had closed the fronts first and then the rears, you would have mis-aligned them so badly that the dealer would have had to fix it. There have been other threads on people who did this by accident. Use the all-up button like you do.

This is the only time I get water in my vert too. And when I go through the high pressure blow dryers at the end of the auto-wash.

I've never had water in the car after a rain, but then I've never parked on an incline.

This is funny, at least i laughed

On a serious note though, not normal. Call the service manager or take it to a different dealer.
