Long cranks after HPFP replacement
After getting my HPFP replaced at 18,300 miles, I began and continue to experience long cranks, between one and four seconds, every cold start or any time the car is started at high altitude (above about 7500 feet). There are no associated lights or codes but it makes me embarrassed every time I come out of a restaurant and my car sits there and cranks and cranks instead of just firing up. Has anybody else had this problem?

Probably they replaced the hpfp with the same part number pump. There's a 2nd generation hpfp whose part number ends with 881, and apparently has the problem corrected.

C'mon, only 10 people have had a HPFP replaced? Anyway, after my car sat at the dealer for a week while BMW AG repaired their ISIS server, the dealer finally diagnosed the issue as being a faulty fuel pressure regulator.

Its been at the dealer; see my previous post. The problem is apparently a faulty fuel pressure controller.

I just picked up my 1er from the dealer; all is wonderful. After two weeks of hell in a 328i, which the SA agrees is the worst vehicle BMW sells from an enthusiast perspective, all is well in the world. BTW, damn, the sport seats in the 1er are comfy compared to the standard seats!
