Best one for me came this past week. I Let my cousin drive my car. (he has a 645 btw) Anyway while moving at a nice clip on the parkway we came to a "reduce speed to 45mph", work zone warning, To which he said... "This car does'nt go 45 mph"! |

We were having a practice autox session before our track time at Sebring International Raceway in FL and one of my instructors, who had just hopped out of a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, jumped into my car and went for a quick lap while I rode shotgun. After taking it past 7k in 2nd gear and through some curves he turns to me and says "wow this car is better than the gallardo I was just in!!"
I was sure he was just kidding so I said "yea ok, are you serious?" And he said "seriously, this car is an animal I don't know what you did to it but it's superb!" (this was after I had upgraded my suspension though... and... other mods, heh)

this past weekend i met up with the usual E46 M3's i meet up with along with some other bad ass cars 2 911 Turbo's, a SL600, Lotus Esprit, M6 and R6 and the car the got most attention was mine, everyone kept taking pictures, checking out the exterior/interior closely and asking who's car it was and telling me they really liked it. i was really suprised that my car got that much attention over all those other super cars

While we were stopped at a Visitor's Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway last week, some woman on a motorcycle said that the 135i was a "nice unit".

When our M-sport 128i was parked in near the Neuschwanstein castle a 20 something blond walked by and said "I will take that one with the red interior.". I guess that validates my mid-life crisis car choice.

while i was out golfing on Friday with my father, there were a couple guys checking my car out. as we drove the cart back to the car after our round they saw the cap i was wearing and they were like..."MISTER BIMMER MAN...SICK CAR!" they asked about 20 questions about the car and were just really cool. when i mentioned how much power and torque the car had they asked if it literally flies in fourth or if i have to get it into 5th or 6th gear for the car to lift off. then they asked about upgrades...when i told them what was possible with a "chip" they asked if i wanted to hunt down 911S cars or what. nice ego boost.

The best comment was shortly after I bought the car, my girlfriend at the time and I came out of a local restaurant to find a guy walking around my car snapping pictures... a picture is worth a thousand words..

A 997 Turbo driver gives me thumbs up and salutes me on the highway, with his girl next to him. I was very surprised but I replied of course.

My best comment out of the dozens I have received in the last year occurred yesterday. Cory Friedman of Autometrics in Charleston, SC owns a E46 M3 and is a seasoned PCA, Speedvision World Challenge, 24hrs of Daytona, and Grand Am racer. He did an alignment and suspension adjustment to my car yesterday. After he finished he took it for a test drive.....when he came back I asked if he had pushed the "on" button on the car before he took off...with a confused look he said "no". I then pointed to my little Vishnu keyfob and told him to push the "on" button and take it for another spin. Upon his return with a shit-eating grin on his face he says to me: "Do you want to trade for my M3?" That just validated my purchase in so many ways....

From a friend who got his license banned after having too much fun on his heavily modified 240sx:
"Holy shit, my adrenaline is rushing. I didn't expect that, this thing is a beast!"

I was with my sister and two of her friends driving through the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri, going easily double the suggested speed limit (25-30mph for most corners) and would occasionally get stuck behind a minivan. My sister told me later her friends said loved it when we'd "jump to warp" (going from 30mph to 95mph)" while passing. The fact that this car can impress with a driver +3 passengers is awesome.

Best comment came from a dude in an Alpina B7 who said my car was sick
Other memorable mentions: Guy in an M5 gave me thumps up on the highway. Two days after I bought the car, I was at a traffic light when a hot chick in a Nissan Altima pulled up next to me and said nice car and gave me her name and number

I was driving on the highway today, and I noticed a guy in a CTS pulling up beside me and he kept glancing at my car, he gave me a nod and I gave him a thumbs up, later at a stop light he rolled down his window and he complimented me and we had a little talk... never had something like that happen before, so it was pretty cool.
Funny thing is I was all set to get a CTS and then I fell in love with the 1er. Kinda weird considering they are very different cars....

Mostly I get wide grins after I give them a ride. I also had a woman in a 3 series give me the thumbs up and fall in behind my 128 vert. On one drive, I took a corner a little more quickly than they were expecting and got a loud scream (like on a roller coaster) from one middle aged back seat passenger. In my brief time with my one it has held four passengers a couple times including one car seat. The back seat is small but quite usable. The car is a lot of fun.
