so, aside from the usual long cranks...

my car has found a new and special way to piss me off.

early in the mornings (and at random other times throughout the day when the engine is warm), 2nd gear is very grabby on the 2-3 shift. It doesn't want to let go, and 3rd gear seems to resist my advances like a shy teenager getting hit on by a dirty old man. I'm also having issues with downshifting from 4th or 5th to second when I want to punch it coming into/out of a curve. This has caused embarrassment twice, and it's aggravating.

also, the car sometimes likes to (after my shift into 2nd) jerk me around like i don't know how to drive it. you know the feeling, when somebody who doesn't know how to drive stick, they either lug it out or rev it real high, let the clutch out too early, and move forward in such a hilarious fashion that it could be on AFV every week.

well, my car does it when i shift from 1-2. all the way through 2nd gear and sometimes into 3rd.

makes me look like a toolish badge whore who just bought a bmw cause it has that pretty blue and white thing on the trunk.

so anyway, do you think that my problem could be that I have a steptronic?

what I think is that i need more transmission fluid and a new clutch, but i've only got 23,000 miles, so it seems very odd.

oh, and I'm gonna do the CDV mod either tonight or tomorrow and see if that helps issue nombre dos.

These transmissions just aren't all that smooth. The 1-2 shift on mine grinds like hell if you're trying to shift it fast. I wouldn't even beging to attempt powershifting it like I used to do in some of my previous cars when I was drag racing. It just doesn't like it.

I have been noticing the same thing. Seems like the clutch is going. I only have 10k on mine. Not sure why it's doing this. Most of the time it's raining here so I don't really romp on it often and it should surely hold up to normal spirited driving.

My car is in service for an(other) HPFP replacement and the tranny issue. We'll see what they say. The CDV mod definitely improved the issue I was having with jerking (at least so far).
