turbo sizes?
I was wondering if the 135i has two of the same sized turbos or a small and a large one. The 335 (with the same engine) apparently has 1 large and 1 small turbo to help with lag.

The N54 has two turbos of the same size - that's in the 135i, 335i, and 535i.
The 335d/X5 X-drive 35d engine (don't know the code offhand.) has a small and bigger turbo. |

This is standard. Parallel turbos won out over sequential twin turbo setups due to an ease of tuning and reliability in gas engines. I know the same holds true for skylines,300zx, and I'm pretty sure even supras. Isn't it great how if you put two turbos on a car the name becomes legendary? oh and a quick FYI if you look at the exhaust and it appears to have two individual manifolds, one for each turbo, you can pretty much bet they're the same size. If it has one and the turbos are in line... then your looking at a sequential set up.
