iPod Scrolling
I've finally got my iPod to work properly with the BMW cable (turns out my iPod had a software brainfart and needed to be reformatted). Anyway, now I'm faced with the situation when I have to scroll through every one of the hundreds of albums I have to select the one I want. For instance, if the album starts with S, then it takes a good minute of continuous scrolling to get to it (not something I want to be doing when I should be concentrating on the road).
Is there an easy way to skip through the album/artist names that I don't know about? (e.g. a button takes care of A-D and another E-L, etc.)

In short, no, sadly.

Early on someone suggested we use the Genre field and put the first letter of the Artist in it. It took a while to do, but it's the best thing I've done to my music collection since I bought the 135i.
I used it a little bit to sort stuff like Regga and Folk, but for the most part it was a pretty useless field anyway. I don't miss not being able to sort by actual Genre, and the ability to search by the first letter is great in the car. |

Mine doesn't work that way. It remembers what it was last playing when you reconnect. Which is cool in a way, but also a pain in the backside if you want to do it the way you've just mentioned.

ahh k, mine only remembers it if I take it out and don't touch it and put it back in.
It would be good with a simply software upgrade to go -> artist -> A-Z -> the list. Also, id like it if it displays the song title and artist on the screen when you hit the track button. You need to scroll down to get the Artist, I really don't care what album its from. My pioneer stereo does this also. It's just stupid. Alternate to that, a 3 line screen But sneh, I bought it for a daily driver with decent performance, I can live with it.

i've given up using my ipod in the car and replaced with a usb stick... similar frustrations navigating with USB, but at least you have more control to create nested subfolders which reduces much of the necessity for scrolling. Sound quality is much better with usb too!
