Wheel Oxidation and Rust
My buddy that I work with has an 07 F250 and we were cleaning it yesterday when I noticed all this oxidation and rust on his wheels. He wants to try and get it out but is not sure how, so I am turning to the people who will know exactly what to do. Detailers debate.....
Just a few quick pics as I had to get home quick, but these are some of the light spots |

The pics make it look like etching (from acid, brake dust, or whatever) that has penetrated the clear coat and affected the metal. If this is the case, I don't think there's any way to fix it without refinishing the wheel (brushing/polishing the damage off and then applying a new clearcoat).
If the pics are misleading and it's just surface damage, you should be able to get it off with a good wheel cleaner (P21S, Chemical Guys Diablo, etc.) that can be purchased from detailedimage or detailersdomain. Or you could try a clay bar with a good lube. But unfortunately, some of that damage looks bad enough that a refinish may be required.
