Good service (gasp!)
I know, I know. I just thought with all of these complaints I would give props to European Motorsports in Des Moines for some good service.
My passenger cup holder broke on my way to a wedding this weekend so I stopped by there (bought my car there) and they were able to get it replaced and get me out the door in about 15 minutes I have also had good luck with Zimmerman's in Cedar Rapids for a problem or two I had. It took a few trips because the techs had trouble replicating the problem but they finally found the source and replaced the parts to make everything good again. The service advisor Gus is great to work with and knows BMWs well. Just thought I'd throw props in case any Iowans are looking for places to go.

I find that BMW of FairFax is a decent place to take your car for warranty work. They've got 60+ service bays, and a decent number of service advisors. The service advisers are nice enough, though they always seem stressed out; probably because they have 60 freakin service bays that are always full. I find that being persistent, and repeating what I want over and over works best. Its not that they don't want to help you, they're just running on auto-pilot.
They also give only BMW loaners, but they are generally out of all 120+ loaners by 8am. They have free Wifi internet, and a great little working area. I don't mind waiting most of the day, because I can do my work. I've also been mostly pleased with their work. I've had to be persistent about "well, if you don't know what the problem is, take a guess and change out a part". But the SA's do understand cars, and do know what they're talking about. |

Good point, Zimmermans gives out BMW loaners but I have a hard time getting any loaner out of the DM dealership for some reason. The one time I really needed one they put me into an old Camry.
