2011 528i 3 litre engine
Any ideas on this one?
As per BMW spec'ed at 240hp/230 torque, 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. 30 additional pounds of torque would make a huge difference for 128. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N53 "200 kW (272 bhp) @ 700 rad/s (6700 RPM)" "320 Nm (236 ft·lbf) @ 290-315 rad/s (2750-3000 RPM)" Lovers of the BMW naturally aspirated straight six in North America get screwed while Europe gets to enjoy this beautiful engine. According to BMW's own UK site below the 330i M-sport does 0-62mph in 6seconds flat. That's over 7/10ths of a second faster than the North American 328i. Imagine how fast and beautiful it'd make a 128i. http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/pricesandspecifications_technical_specs/0,,1156_181257228__bs-Mw%3D%3D%40bb-RTkyQ1A%3D%40bm-WkM1OA%3D%3D%40sit-bmwuk,00.html?tab=technicalSpec This is the engine I wish BMW would include in its lineup before the turbo options, and bump up the power from the turbos like they have in the 335is to prevent the HP from being too close for them to market the cars differently... |

Yes, so it is a reason to buy domestic cars. Mercedes E350 gets 306hp engine in Europe, when American version is still in production with 268hp engine.

Even the US diesel is down 20+ hp from the Euro version. In the same engine!
What's the reason for that? Is the fuel different?
