Feedback on Cal-Tex Protective Coating on Jerez Black Paint
Guys,
After owning Jerez Black for two months i realized that it needs lots of care in protecting it from Bird droppings, Rain, Tree Sap and other environmental wastes. I was offered Cal-Tex Protective Coating (ResistAll EnviroGuard Next Generation) from the dealer at the time i bought the car but i ignored it but now after 2.5 months i am reconsidering it. Does anyone think its worth the money and time as it comes with 7 years warranty? Also does it really protect as they claim on their websites? Appreciate your feedback!! Any coatings that has a 7 year warranty is BS. In reality, it will probably protect for 6 mos. at the most.
http://www.autopia.org/forum/car-det...ll-sucker.html I have Jerez as well. It is a PIA to maintain. I suggest applying multiple layers of sealant and a good wax to provide a barrier between the paint and the environment. It looks like we're in the same area as well. I could deal with bird poop and water spots... what I hate is all the construction in our area and all the debris that are getting kicked up and chipping the front bumper! |

Get a good sealant put on the paint -- you might need to detail the car first

Thanks Guys!
I think i will skip it and detail the car twice a year! Is it possible to get rid of the swirls through detailing? i heard detailing involves buffing which removes the clear coat? |

I would take it to a good detailer and have them work on it. Money well spent compared to the dealers protective coating.
You do loose a tiny bit of clear coat when the car is detailed. It all depends on how bad the swirls are how deep the scratches go. Any profesional detailer will take readings before and after on the depth of the clear coat. With your car being so new, you should not be loosing much clear.
