Hello guys,

I recently put on some hre c20s with toyo t1r tires,

for some reason at higher speeds 80+ the vehicle doesnt seem to grip very well....

I notice slight vibration , however can balancing due this?

The tires are all mounted in the right direction....

The best way to describe it is if i make a medium quick movement the vehicle traction sometime comes on and the vehicle seems its slipping. Its scary.

The vibration is more then likely caused by bad balance. The slipping feeling you are getting is potentially because your tires are not yet broken in. Takes 300-500 miles.

Toyo T1R's are no where near the same caliber as a tire like the Michelin PS2 or the like. Toyo T1R's are more specifically designed for sport compacts that are lighter, not for a relatively heavy car like the M3.

If you are getting vibration, make sure that your wheels are hub-centric and not only lug-centric, as that will cause the vibration you are talking about as well.

I got the C20s as well and dealt with the same problem, at least the vibration part. I dont know about the traction but when I went PS2 to Invos, they were much less grippy which is confirmed by all the reviews on them. Im assuming you got really aggressive offsets like mine which cause it to be harder to balance on a normal machine or so I was told by the guy doing it. Go to someone with a roadforce balancer, i think thats what its called, they can do it right for you.

The offsets are really agressive...what gives?

Will a drop make it get more traction

It seems like my wheels are sitting no straight with no camber.

Sorry should clarify since Im making assumptions. You got those wheels from tightie I believe, I saw his 4sale thread. He mentioned that the offsets are aggressive, which means that without spacers your wheels are flush with the body. This can be done to most custom made wheels, if you specify it. For that flush look this is really the correct way to do instead of adding spacers, though theres nothing wrong with adding conservative spacers either to accomplish the same goal but this is IMO the best way to do it. I personally love the flush look and wouldnt have it any other way. I do love these wheels alot!

Dont know about your traction problem though, you cant really compensate mediocre rubber by dropping it. You might get the perception that its better but my guess is if you want better grip you are gonna have to go with a more aggressive compound tire.

IM SO SURE THEY are at like 40psi

i need to lower it to 34psi

I've got the standard 18" wheels. The PS2s from the factory were perfect. When I had to replace the fronts I used PS2s again. Even after 3 spin ups on a Hunter Road Force Balancer I also have a slight vibration at 80 and above which was never there before. Since nothing changed but the tires and the balance it has to be one of the two in my case. My advice is to first verify your wheels are first true - round and no run out. Then road force balance and ensure its perfect. If you still have problems, get a fifth wheel that is known to be perfect and swop out the suspect wheels one at a time to try to isolate where the problem is. If wheels are true and balance on a road force balancer is perfect then its got to be the tire. It would be great if anyone on this forum can explain how the Hunter road force balancer works in detail - since it has a variety of options when balancing.

guys just checked tire pressure 45-50 psi all around

lowered them all around to 34psi and the car feels like a different car more planted, but i still get a little body roll

hopefully rd sport springs will fix this.

wow those things were super inflated! prolly why you felt lack of traction! They're probably hard as rocks!

As far as balancing goes, I actually had it done at a place with a roadforce but they didnt do it right cause it still vibrated. I had to goto a specialty shop that race preps porsches and they finally got rid of the problem. I actually think they dont even use roadforce, they said they have something else of the same level. But this is the guy who said most balancing shops will get it close then call it day, he also noted that the main reason the other shop probably did a bad job was the aggro offset.

Of course he coulda just been feeding me bs but results were the car felt perfect at high speed afterwards.

body roll wont improve with new wheels just slightly

ur gonna love the ride on the RD Sport springs + T1R's... U can try mine out if ur ever in the area
