Perfect Driving Line
Hye everyone i'm going to a new track in 2 weeks where i've never been before. So i printed the track and painted what is for me the perfect driving line (soory dont know if u say that in english )
Would like to know ur opinion. Would you drive it that way or take a different line? |

You can't determine what is the ideal line based on a 2D drawing, you'll have to take into consideration the amount of camber for each turn AND potentially, elevation changes on the track.

What a cool track! But yeah. You'll need to factor in camber and elevation to determine the line. And also just how much speed you end up carrying in some portions...
Turns 14 - 18 look like HELL! Oy!

I agree with elevetian changes... and camber... the pic shows none of that. So probably there isn't any.
wow.. I was seeing so many places I would do different, until I realized the track goes counter clockwise... |

interesting track- it's almost like the designer wanted one of every type of curve and transition...
too bad it's flat. elevation and camber changes add so much to a track's dynamic qualities. |

You can sort of see the lines people take from the photograph. Here's my take... - Turn 3. Double apex. First at the very start and then at the very end. - Turn 7. Late apex. Don't track out fully to setup right for Turn 8. - Turn 9. Very late apex to setup a straight shot through the kink before Turn 10 and Turn 10 itself. - Turn 11. Late apex. Don't track out fully to setup left for Turn 12. - Turn 14. Late apex Turn 14 to straighten out the Turn 14 and following kink complex. - Turn 15. Very late apex. Don't track out fully to setup right for Turn 16. Looks like a fun track! PS. That Atom driver. Epic! Though I'm not sure you can translate his lines to your own given the way that car is setup. And clearly the driver has no problem drifting that thing around the circuit. I hate how all the tracks I tend to frequent have nowhere near as much runoff as this facility clearly has!

What is the best way to take a long flat turn? |

I'm very inexperienced in this stuff. One think I remember that was thought us on car control clinic was the late apex. I guess turns like 2, 9, 13 are better with latex apex. But then I've never been to a track yet. Hopefully next summer.
Shoot a vid definetly! |

so i was at the circuit this weekend and my opinion is 50/50.
It was raining 1 point and that was great but the circuit is very short no long straight had on the biggest straight 4th gear for 3 seconds MAX. A friend of me had his VW polo GTI 125hp and he had exactly same round times as i did. he had winter wheels and i had semi slicks. ok that might help but even on the straight i had difficulties passing other cars because of the short straight. Wasnt able to shot a video AAAAAAH because i dont know where to mount my cam!!!! how do u guys do and with wich cam?? i talked with the guy of the ATOM he's Arnaud Voiry. and i showed him my picutre with what was imo the perfect driving line and he went for spin with me and showed me a few mistakes a made on the track and the lines i took. and he said to me to leave the dsc on in those conditions because u never know with french people on the trak |

First one is attaching the camera on the plastic area on top of the middle glove box. I use the double sided 3M thing. The second one is the little glass window. As you see, if you set it properly you have a good feel of the road, and you can see you hands. In both these settings, I use 720p mode since it gives wider angle. |

Sorry I thought I mentioned in the post. Yes, I use go pro hd. Also, I use Zoom H2 to record the sound. I attach it to the dashboard (which you can see in the first vid).

i'm gonna buy one for next season. was really happy to have a wet road on the circuit. Every single time i go to a track and i push the car a little to the limits i see i still have A LOT to learn. Next season i'm gonna start with drift training and then with a one day stage with a pro co driver. For me theres no sence buying a stronger car in the next years. I wanna learn everything about my car first and really learn to drive it. on public roads u drive a little faster and u think ure the king. u go one time to the track and u see that u havent used 70% of your cars potential
On a wet track do u let your DSC on or OFF? i did let it on this time because of my semislicks and even so it was crazy had no traction at all and little cars gave me a lesson all the way, had no chance with mine because of the traction |
