Gintani Race Installed (axle back)

Finally got my Gintani Race installed today.

Keep in mind, I've been driving the stock M3 for over a month, and my ears are probably a bit sensitive since not being in my RS4 with Milltek NON resonated for nearly 2 months. The M3 is extremely quiet in stock form.

VERY deep at cold start and idle. You can feel it in your chest standing behind it. Drone down low compared to the Milltek, but nothing bumping the rev's up can't cure. Once it's out of the drone range it's quiet. As a few have stated, it doesn't get much louder as the rev's go up, at least that I can tell. Sounds very clean, but I haven't heard it from outside the car with someone driving it yet. I've only been in it about 5 minutes, so I'm sure the sound will change over a few hundred miles.

Have not had it on the highway yet, but will evaluate that this afternoon and update.

It's a quality piece. Installation was easy, and fit is great.

Thanks to RAZ for his help!

Took it on the highway while at lunch. Drone is pretty bad at around 62-65mph in 6th on my 6MT.

Anyone with the race version have it calm down (drone) after a few weeks? It sounds amazing, and I can deal with the drone around town, but constant driving with cruise control makes it irritating.

If the highway cruising drone doesn't calm down, I'll sell it for the Sport version.

Its probably going to get worse as the sound deadning material gets matted down inside the muffler (break-in). Muffles are usually the quitest when they are new and as they age they sound even louder.

You're probably right. I can deal with drone around town, but not cruising on the highway at 65 for 2 hours.

Amazing sound isn't it? I've heard a full gintani catless race setup and it was just insanity... Addictive sound...

Do not use 6th gear while hwy crusing, keep it in 5th above 3.5rpm and you'll be fine.

I had the Gintani race too. Amazing sound but I had to tone it down and switch out to a more quieter system. Did you buy this new? You should've considered the Sport version

Yeah, brand new. Just received it yesterday morning and had it installed after lunch. On cold start it shook the windows in the house this AM....LOL! I take the kids to school each morning and they were already complaining this morning. The 5 year old was saying "this race car is louder than your other race cars". Just came from a RS4 (RIP) with Milltek and before that, a 600 hp Cobra with longtubes, so I'm used to loud cars, but this baby is droney down low. It wouldn't so much bother me, but I can see how it's gonna kill the kids in the back seat. I can hear their booster seats rattling.

Will probably be selling it (less than 20 miles on it). PM me with legitimate offers. I have the original box from Gintani, and can ship it ASAP, just give me a week or 2 to get something else on it.

Craig
