Trade in for a Boss 302?
I am thinking about trading in my 1 for a 2012 Mustang Boss 302 given the HPFP problem, anyone has the same thought?

I think the 135i is a way better car than a mustang. I looked at them before I bought this car and the build quality of a Ford is just not good. The new motor in the mustangs is awesome though.

The new Mustangs are pretty good muscles cars but they lack in the refinement dept. I test drove one earlier this year and i loved the power and sounds the engine makes but its sort of a rough ride. The clutch is very very stiff and the dash is too high, and the door panels really look low cost. Overall if power is your main objective than yeah the Mustang will fit the bill for sure, but if you're looking for a ride that offers an excellent combination of everything power, comfort, refinement, etc. then stick with the 1er.

They're great cars, to be honest. I owned an 05 Mustang GT, and now own a 2011 GT500 in addition to my 135i. I would wholeheartedly dispute the notion that their build quality isn't good. My Mustang had less problems than any car I've ever owned.
I'd drive a 5.0 with the performance pack and see what you think, the Boss will just be a more focused version of that.

I know the power and performance are there for the MGT, but I couldn't stand the seating position, drivers view to the sides and rear, and having more toys for the stop light than green light. If it were improved with better visibility, or came with an eco-boost v6 out of the SHO, it would be a closer comparison for me.

Wasn't the boss designed to beat the m3's track times at laguna seca? My friend has a GT convertible. It's a great car, but I think the interior looks god awful.

I don't think I'd trade my 135i for Boss 302 for daily driver duties, but 5.0 would be the no-brainer if I was keeping it strictly American. (Assuming I couldn't afford a C6 Corvette Grand Sport.)

But really, if you are looking for performance, buy a used C6 Z06, you can get them in the $40k range now, which is a FUCKIN STEAL for the money/performance ratio.

Agreed. I'd take a C6 over a mustang any day.

From what I've read i don't think you're going to be able to test drive one. The new 302 is suppose to be a limited production run and very few models will be available.

the BOSS is a freakin awesome whip and im sure something youll have fun with and wont regret getting compared to a regular 11 v6 for example.. i looked all over and did hours of research and read forums about the new 11 stang cuz i wanted one because they were SOOO CHEAP last month they had 1000 out the door for like 350 a month. but i realized that
1. if getting a mustang u have to get stick cuz the auto is POS 2. if you do get the stick, the 6mt sucks ass on it cuz fords clutches/trannys arent the greatest 3. built quality... when i test drove one i was dissapointed on the steering wheel, ididnt mind so much the buttons and cheap metal clunky feeling but it also felt way too heavy. 4. power, sure its got some raw power and lot of horses, but its how those horses are being used, you dont get any power until 4k rpm, and until then it feels slow and bogged down.. the BOSS is a totally different car, but im sure, that Ford being Ford, some these charachteristcis will follow on to the BOSS version as well.. oh and overall, seriously, one of the biggest reasons why i didnt get it aside from everything and more i mentioned, was the mere fact that i was scared to buy a Ford. =( kind of sad, the car seems to be great but.. dang it i just couldnt do it. + im sure my little 128i can out handle that big pony any day any track.

Before i bought the 135I I cross shopped EVO's, STI's 335i's and the new 5.0. I was blown away by how bad the low rpm power was on what i expected to be a monster of a ride. It also sucks to see out of. |
