Waiting impatiently for the new family member to arrive...
So last week I ordered our new 2011 X5 which will replace the 328xi touring (sooooo looking forward to more leg room in the back, and not to mention everything else, hehe)
Here are the details: 2011 X5 35i Sport Activity Deep Sea Blue Metallic Light Poplar Trim Black Nevada Perforated (Ventilated Seat Package) Convenience Package Cold Weather Package Technology Package Ventilated Seat Package (as mentioned earlier) Heated Rear Seats Cargo Cover Satellite Radio Running Boards Space Saver Spare 20" Y-Spoke Style Wheels (We'll get another set of wheels/tires for the winter) All Weather Floor and Trunk Mats All in all - 59680k for the car, 64000k including taxes, title, tags, processing, etc, and the upgraded maintenance package. I think we did well on the price, or at least I hope we did. That's not including the $2500 holiday cash offer which would take it to 61500 out the door. NOW, I just want to know when it's going to be ready. The hubby and I are doing PCD again (we did it previously on the touring). It was ordered last Fri 11/12 and according the website and the 800 # there's still no confirmed production date. Any bets on whether or not we'll get it before Xmas? |

As mentioned in my thread on ordering an X5 SAV, I placed the order on November 3rd and it is currently at the factory "awaiting release to carrier". My sales rep said it should be picked up on Saturday and be here in Chicago on Monday or Tuesday of things go well. That would be 3 weeks from order to delivery
In your case there may be a slight delay for the Thanksgiving holiday, but it is certainly possible (based on my experience) that you can have it by Christmas. That is just a guess though... |

I ordered the same day and am in the same boat, although from what I understand the timing will have more to do with the dealer's allocation than the order date. I'm a little concerned that it might get held up by the holiday schedule at the factory, although I also suspect there's going to be a push to get sold cars delivered by the end of the calendar year.
I am crossing my fingers that it will go into production the week after Thanksgiving. I figure it will take 3 weeks at best from start of production to dealer delivery so if it starts any later I'm probably looking at January. |

That's who I went with too. I've bought my last three cars from them. It's way out of the way for me, but I like the dealership the best of all in the area.
Just got an email that my car arrived early and I can pick it up tomorrow. Head is still spinning on how fast that was. |

I think so - I've never actually seen the X5 in Deep Sea, they always have either black, silver or white on the lots - which I don't get. Blue is an awesome color! Granted I'm biased considering my husband I have matching Montego Blue 3's (yes we are those dorks).
I got news yesterday that we will be doing the PCD on 12/22 - now its about finding interesting road trip ideas on the way back to DC. |

I think each model has its ideal color. Deep Sea Blue is definitely it for the X5. It's beautifully sophisticated. With those wheels you are going to have a head turning X5, I promise.

Lots of choices for scenic roads and sight seeing. The best thought is probably to hit Asheville, NC, the Biltmore Estate, and then drive the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive all the way towards DC. Traffic shouldn't be a problem in December but weather might. There are lots of attractions along the way as well but you will have to plan hotels off the BRP because there are only a handful of places on the BRP.
