Mine's not really fading...just kinda getting too shiny for my taste. 28k miles. I plan on buying a lightly used one in the future. Having a nice steering wheel is important shit haha

Ask your dealer for a courtesy replacement... my local dealer replaced both the steering wheel and the buttons trim for the same shiny leather and peeling trim reasons with less than 30K miles.

Both of you need to condition your leather more often . Or should I say 'start conditioning your leather'???

I treat the leather regularly and it looks brand new with about 30k on the clock.

try leatherique pristine clean and rejuvenator oil, it works like a charm to remove the oils that have embedded themselves in the leather which causes it to be shiny. there are a few thread about it and check out this link

You know that alcantara is bad about fading. Your oils on your hands will destroy the alcantara over time. It is pretty, but it won't last as long as leather.

I remember some guys used to wear driving gloves in the e46 Competition Pack., because of the alcantara steering wheel. I like the alcantara, but I don't want to worry about my steering wheel looking like shit after a while.

Smart man .

And yes, alcantara is crap on wear areas. Just do some maintenance on your leather folks .
