Backing the e92 M3 into the garage.

I always pulled my e46 M3 straight into the garage, but about a week after having my e92, I started backing it into the garage. I'm not sure if its because the front end looks so good, the powerdome is bad@ss, or that the rear end just isn't as clean as the e46 was. This should probably be in that anal thread, but just wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience?

I back in purely because we only have rear park detectors (gotta love BMW for that).

Strange that we have front PDC in UK. Is it a BMW thing or is there some legislative reason in the US

We gotta back two of the three cars in (alternating) to have room for the bicycles also.

It's also way easier to back up the driveway and into the garage, then to back all the way down the driveway without running over the grass. Especially at night.

I used to live in a building with an underground garage and I always backed up the car as close to the wall as possible because in the morning on cold startup, the sound would be magnified, especially when I revved it

Always back in, too, but no PDC here. In my case I think I do it because it puts my door on the side with the entrance to the house. Plus, I like to be able to leave quickly with minimum fuss.

It has been theororized that we don't get front PDC because of the lovely reflectors we get in our bumper covers (aren't you jealous?). I doubt there is a technical reason we don't, but perhaps BMW didn't want a whole 'nother set of covers to produce or stock?

I also read where it has to do with our front bumper crash worthiness. What ever that is composed of, who knows.

FWIW...I have always thought and been told that backing the car into the garage was not a good idea due to the buildup of carbon monoxide inside the house that can seep into the living areas. I thought this might have been a bunch of garbage until I put a CM detector in a bedroom by the garage and sure enough after a few days it was going off.

I back in also because it is easier than walking all the way around the car and risk hitting the door on the wall...

Good point -- sounds like you better seal up that dividing wall!
