Yearly inspection, what do I do?

I had a full Akropovic evolution exhaust system installed. As inspection draws nearer and nearer is there anything I can do? Or do i need to install OEM exhaust back on and have it inspected and then reinstall the akro evolution?

Regards,

I assume you mean state inspection? What state are you in?

I assume the akropovic system does not include cats?? A few cars can pass emissions without cats. However, most states that do an emissions inspection will actually look at the exhaust system to insure continuity including the presents of cats.

haha, well of course. I'd rather not have to do any shady dealings though. I'm assuming tuning shops are not allowed to do state inspections?

PA, CT, and NY will all eyeball exhaust system for cats during inspection. Don't know about MA. Ask around locally or where they do the inspection. I have a feeling you're going to be swapping back to the stock system (or at least the part that includes the cats).

Okay, I will start asking around, I thought this might be a problem when having the exhaust installed, I'd just rather not have to pay to have the exhaust reinstalled. Its an inconvenience really..

is your check engine light on... and does your state have smog test or just readiness test?

Check engine light isnt on, however I purchased the delete-r with the exhaust which makes the software think the exhaust has cats. Ma has smog testing.

I've been told that a tune can allow you to pass MA inspection even with the full Akra system. You should also try calling some of the local shops like Kaizen or Turner and see whether they can do it or point you to someone who can do it.

I got the slip-on because I didn't want to deal with this.

Ask the people that installed it where to get it inspected. You can find a flexible inspector.

If the CEL is not on I would run it through. In Jersey they just hook up to the diag port and check if the ecu is throwing any codes if not you get a big ass ugly sticker good for 4 years.

This.

There's no good reason to delete the cats when hi-flow units are so good. Most pollution comes from a minority of cars, like jerks that remove the cats (or let their 20-year old shitboxes run badly).

I would think most pollution comes from 18 wheeler Trucks running diesel engines..

Diesel is actually fairly clean / efficient for the weight / miles traveled compared to gallons burned
