Starting problem resolved
Still discovering something new about my M3 every week. The other day, I could not start my M3. Foot on brake pedal as usual, press Start button several times and no-start. Got a prompt on my display that stated to press start again. Tried that a few times - no luck. Then, I realised earlier that day, I was pumping the brake pedal with the engine OFF until the pedal hardened up (pedal depression diminishes with each press). This releases the vacuum in the brake booster. I discovered that I had to press the brake pedal much more firmly than usual to start the car - if only the display stated to press brake pedal, I would have realised I needed to press down hard to start, rather than giving me the 'bum steer' message that if I pressed start button again, it might start. I don't know, maybe a good trick to prevent your other 'half' from driving it...
