Sad(ish) day.

So, this morning I dropped off my 09 SG at the dealer for early trade in on my 2011.789 AW ZCP. Despite the fact that I am excited about the new car, I had a moment of sadness for my old car. It was very good to me and I felt like I was betraying it. I know, I'm an idiot for having emotional attachment for cars, but I can't help it.

i feel the same way you create a bond with your car but you have to let it go. It will fade once you get in your brand new M

That's exactly what my buddy at the dealership said. Still, when I had to go back to pick up some stuff I left in the car, I felt like my car was giving me the cold shoulder...

I get pretty attached to some stuff, especially to the car after cleaning it and caring for it. the m3 here will probably be here for a long time and will eventually be mine.

The same thing happened when I was upgrading from my E46 330xi to M3. Now my M3 is my baby! I know one thing though, I will not upgrade her to the F3X M3! V8 FTW!

The first time I went long on a brand new car was 2003 and it was S600 Benz, I absolutely loved the car especially after Rennteching it up. So at the end of lease the bank had me drop it off at Manheim Auctions lot in Tampa, when I got there the lot was empty and its a giant lot like a 1/4 mile by a 1/4 mile or bigger, they said to go park it in the middle of the lot and leave the key in it. I felt as if I was abandoning the poor thing and actually had a moment..... Then I hopped into my brand new CLS 55 that the wife followed me there in and never thought of it again... Amen

I traded a S65 for my M and dont miss that money sucking, tire eating, fuel swilling beast one bit, now Mercedes of Tampa might miss it and its 3 to 5k a visit repair jobs but not me.

The only way to get over this sadness, is to enjoy the new one faster by giving it a supercharger.

I get attached to my cars too, I think most of us on this forum know the feeling. Just try to enjoy your new 2011 and you'll be over the old girl in no time!

Lol! I like the idea of a supercharger... I had one on an old mustang cobra and it was stupid fast...not sure I'm quite ready for that yet, but I am definitely modding this car.

not looking foward to this day either...and the day is coming all too soon ...

I think it's the fact that the M3 has always been my dream car; and while I ordered another one it wont be here for a while and when you work that hard for something it's hard to let it go!

I don't think I could do it. Even with the same model each car has its own history and issues. Seems like M3's definitely come in "wednesday" and "friday" varieties just like most cars. Hope you get another "wednesday!"

I luv my new M but when I see an old e46 on the road I miss my old one. I think if I upgrade to the new F30 I could never sell the V8.
