Bmw Individual Paint Approval

Hello members. For those who ordered a bmw individual color, how long did you have to wait before the car went into production. I am going on 4 weeks and no word yet. Any feedback would be great.

Individual paint usually adds about a month or so to orders up here in Canada.

Since we have the Individual program available to us we don't have to get approval..... we just have to wait a little while longer for the car to be built.

When I did mine, the approval took about 1 week. I got the production date pretty fast though after approval, maybe within another week or so. However, it did push out what would be my production date (without Individual) about a month. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys...... I love the Moonstone too, it is a color you never get bored of since it keeps showing you new shades no matter how long you own it.

Just got approved for the Individual color. Now scheduling ED will be tough with reservation running into June.

just wanted to point out that Canadian individual program is limited to 4 exterior colors (azurite black metallic, ruby black metallic, aventurine silver metallic, and moonstone metallic), so it'd be kind of like comparing apples to oranges when it comes to ordering the individual colors like monte carlo blue, dakar yellow...etc.

also, their individual "program" is $3900, which also includes special interior accents. IMHO, that program offers slightly more color choices for Canadian buyers, but is not the same as the individual coloring that OP is referring to here. I presume canadians also have to go through approval for unique colors like dakar

yes i know there are MCB's in canada. it was a limited edition run, just like how they also have frozen grey & frozen black (i know for a fact frozens are $4500 just for exterior paint, not including interior touch). i'm just wondering if they go through the same process to get approval for colors that are not part of the "individual program"

Do you pay 5K plus the added cost for a metallic color or is that included in the 5K amount?

Beautiful dakar M3 by the way.

If you hadn't gotten an individual color and assuming you had to wait for the car to be built, how much time is the wait nowadays?

Back in 2000 when I ordered my 323i, I ordered around March and didn't receive my car until July (May production build), so I'm somewhat used to the long wait, lol.

It's true that the "Edition" M3 was sold in Canada, and that it was available in MCB. However, to be clear, Mark's car was not an "Edition". He specc'd everything out through Individual.

Based on what Mark's M has said, it seems that they do indeed go through a very similar approval process that we do here in the US.

Absolutely correct mister!! BMW Canada has the final say but fortunately, our program here is pretty liberal. Contrary to what our website and brochure states, we're able to get almost any color that BMW has produced for our M's (except Estoril damnit!!). BMW N.A. is finally catching on and offering just about the same....no doubt due to the feedback (i.e. the demand) they've read on this forum.

Interestingly, with MCB, BMW Canada allowed only 1 for 2011 (for which I'm truly grateful) and then said "no more". At the same time BMW N/A lifted their MCB ban and gave the go ahead for a few of them.....which are now on order. BMW AG's way of doing business by allowing/disallowing Individual colors for different markets is "unique" but no doubt keeps the excitement up for those lucky enough to get approval for what they want. But alas, still no Estoril

Sorry my dakar brother. price is actually quite negotiable. i got my dakar paint at 4550 (invoice). In fact i got my entire car only 300 above invoice. Its a question of what kind of dealer you're working with.
