The Long Winter Storage
So yeah, my E90 M3 has been in my garage for the past 5 months in this brutal Calgarian weather that we have. And I've taken it out once to get a tint applied for the car. I didn't get a chance to enjoy the car, but I got to drive it for 10 mins. Every time I think about it, the first thing that comes to my mind is the sound that the car makes. I feel like I'm in a love story and haven't driven my love for the past 5 months (you can take that in any way you like ), that's a horrible feeling. Anyone in the same boat?

Out of curiosity, how many days a year can you reasonably drive an M3 around Calgary? I live in Montréal and last winter I stored it for three months but this winter I bought a set of winter tires and I've used it as often as I could without any problems.

Its going on 4 months for me, I like to wait for most of the salt to be washed to the side of the road before I like to take her out to enjoy. Ive been itching to get her out but one or 2 more good rains should do it

But yeah, I hear you about the salt on the roads. I really hate it when I get it on my car which I rarely do cause I don't drive it in winter.

I took the cover off of my E90 in the garage yesterday and sat in it, reading a magazine and listening to some tunes. My wife thinks I'm nuts.
I've heard the old "it's just a car" or "get some winter tires and drive it" but thats why I have my winter beater CRV. That plus it makes driving the Bimmer that much more special in the spring/summer. This weather is just killing me tho! A |

I last drove my car in early June of 2010.
I then left for my current location, visiting in the winter, when the car is stored. I too sat in it briefly when I was home and my wife thought that it was kind of odd. Oh well, I should see it again (and drive) in late spring after a little under a year of withdrawal.

We have a place in Florida for our winter getaways. The job market is far too lucrative, and the cash too good to move away from here, despite the winters.

Its tought having it in storage. My car was put away Dec 1 and will likely come out of hibernation beginning of April. I have to go visit it to not forget how great a car the M3 is and prevent me from buying something else

Picked up my M3 with 3 miles on in November, drove it directly to the hangar, covered it up, and put the tender on. It snowed 5in the next day. Talk about a kick in the nads..... been spending hours on the forum just waiting haha

Same here, but I am going through a withdrawal phase and can't take it any more; mine is coming out on March 15th, no matter how much snow is on the road.

Eh I start mine every week and roll it around making sure to park with the wheels in a different place.
I can't imagine leaving it for months without moving it. Flatspotting from hell.

I actually purchased these mats from Canadian Tire and you put it under the tire and it would not let any "lime" (I think?) from the concrete leach into the tires and prevents flat spotting. But yeah I wished I could take my car out every week.

LOL wtf.. It's the weight of the car the flatspots the rubber. If I had to, I'd put it up on blocks.

I did the same thing last week! I choose not to drive mine in the winter also. I put snow tires on my old 318 and 323 but not the M#. I really don't mind. I can drive from March right through October and this year I didn't put it away until mid November. April 10 when I return from vacation it's coming out.
