Houston BMW CCA Autocross Sunday, June 5th
June's Houston BMW CCA Autocross will be held on Sunday, June 5th at the Houston Police Academy.
Non-members are always welcome, so sign up to join us - it's a challenge, and a lot of fun! Pictures: Last month's (May). April (first run group) December. We have lots of video, too; some of which can be found on YouTube here and here. Registration is $30 for BMW CCA members, and $40 for non-members. (I would guess about half the folks that come out each month are non-members). DLB Racing handles our Autocross registration, so set up an account here, and put your car in your "garage", then look on their calendar for the "Houston Chapter BMW - (AX)". More information can be found through our chapter web site here: http://www.houston-bmwcca.com/portal...view&extid=273 or send me a PM with your questions!

This is a perfect way to find your car's limits without risking damage to your ride. It's a great predecessor to tracking your car without causing any serious wear to your tires or brakes.

Are you going to run the full track again like last month? Can I bring/run a non BMW?

And yes, you are welcome to bring non-BMW cars. When my daughter joins us, it's in her Civic Si. A bunch of Porsche's and Miatas typically join us as well as do some Corvettes, Dodge Vipers, and even a Chevy Impala! This is one of the BMW CCA instructors driving a Lotus 7:

Scott-
I forgot to mention that the BMW CCA events are all very noob-friendly. Everyone is helpful, and there are plenty of instructors to ride along with you and show you the ropes (and get you up to speed, if you don't mind the pun). I was a noob when I started in November - everyone made me feel right at home!

39 registered so far, with temperatures only reaching 95° (much cooler than yesterday)!
Come out and play with us, and meet some great folks - there will not be another BMW CCA AX until September!

It will involve both section again. Unfortunately I will not be running this weekend, so you'll have to tell me how it was.

When is the latest that I can sign up? Might be able to make it but I'm not sure just yet.
Also - Is there a specific time that you come for your event or does everyone just hang out until time to run?

On Sunday, everyone shows up just after 8:30 a.m. to register (sign a couple of waivers), get your work assignment, and have your car pass tech inspection (very easy). If there are less than 70 entries, we run in two groups, alternating between drving and shagging cones. If there are more than 70 cars, there'll be three run groups, so you'll drive for one, work during one, and have one off (to go grab a bite to eat or hang out in the shade). If you request it, (it was helpful for me), you can choose to work during the first run group, so you can be up close to watch the first heat of cars and see where the challenges are (where precious seconds are lost, or cones hit, or gates missed). Once you register, just let me know your car number, and I'll pass the request along for you.
