Lot of guys selling before next gen?

Hmm, I don't know if it's psychological since my time to buy (used) is coming up, but anybody else noticed an increase of cars being posted for sale in the FS section?

I used to check that section everyday to see the same ol cars listed for sale but recently it seems whenever I check there are at least a couple new listings. I'm thinking maybe some of these guys are selling to make room for the next gen M... or other reasons, whatever.

This could work out excellently for me, I'll be looking to buy around the end of this year into early next year! Sell away fellas, sell away.

Anybody else thinking of selling for that reason, the general vibe I've gotten is that people are kinda weary, wanting to see what's coming up next before making that final decision.

I ordered my E90 M3 2 weeks ago 'cos I want to get one of these last awesome V8. I don't think that many drivers sell their car for a supercharched 6-cylinder.

It takes at least three years to prepare for the next one.

Yeah I feel the same way. I've never owned or driven a V8 so I'm very excited to get my hands on an E92. I hope a lot of the "must have" buyers jump on the first release of the new car and flood the market with used E9X.

Garage List
what PKL said, I know of alot of people trying to sell there older (08/09/10) m3's to buy a 2012, but I doubt that anyone is selling to buy a car that's gonna ce on in 3 years. Plus IMO I don't think a lot of people are going to buy the f3x M3 when it first comes out due to all the problems the n54 had when it first came out, but that's just what I think.

It was just a theory, and who says people wont sell now that it's the current gen (more value) to prep for a car in 3 years... I know my impatient ass wouldn't do that but yeah...

Ok I could see people selling the older E9x to get the newer ones, hell I've done that before.

After my M I'm getting 2 cars. An impractical car(2 seater) + practical daily driver, whether they are BMWs, no one will know(Maybe you do! and not the 2 seater )!

I also wanted to get an impractical super bachelor ride plus a DD, but my mind lives in a land my wallet can't keep up with... 09+ 911 S is still out of my price range. But ah well, I think the E92 will suit me well for a while (hopefully for a while).

There was something on the news last night before my wife and I fell asleep "Studies show that men who have sports cars or expensive taste in luxury cars are looking for sex and don't want a relationship" I was in the dog house for that and it was just the news!

I definitely will not be selling my E90 for the F3x M3 though. Not a fan of the flat front fascia ala 5er and 7er. Even if it (and it will) drive like a champ with gobs of power its still gotta be aesthetically pleasing. My personal goal is to sell my house and buy a bigger one before selling my M3. Looks like I'll be holding on to the M for a while!

That's my fear as well. Love the M3...love my car...but too much higher is going to put it out of the range that I would pay for one. I'd probably start looking at other alternatives in that sort of price range.

we are def seeing a lot of guys trading their 08's and 09's in to get a 2011 or 2012. Most of the guys who are leasing tell us that if they lease a new one now the lease will be over perfect time for the new one to come out. But like others have stated we are a ways away for the new F3x M to come out.

Hahaha, that's hilarious! That explains my current situation pretty well actually, I went from married with an STi then Evo X, 4 door sporty cars, eh semi-responsible. and now that I'm single I want a 2 door sports car and am definitely trying to pick up my share of ladies.

I wouldn't imagine many enthusiasts would want to sell the E9X for the F3X, but then again I thought the old enthusiasts would scoff at the V8 after the I6 heritage... But going from NA 6, to NA high revving 8, to a FI 6, I wonder how M guys are taking it. I'm pretty new to the bimmer world but understand heritage and legacy and all that... still a forced inducton M seems kinda off to me.

Sounds like I should start keeping an eye on your used inventory then...

I've started noticing a lot of really good deals out there on 08s and 09s. I'd prefer an 09 and my chances of getting one are starting to look better and better each month. Seems like I'll be doing a lot of private party shopping as there isn't much of a BMW market out here in Oklahoma (who woulda thought? haha!)... but I'd be willing to travel if the deal were right, I'm searching countrywide as it is.

You'll love it though when you get your M. There's so few in and around town...you actually have a little individuality.

That is EXACTLY what I want to hear . I haven't seen very many of the car I have now (Evo X) but I can't stand the attention I get in this car. Way grown out of the boy racer scene.
