it took a month to get it from bmw , i was very surprised it was delivered so fast !

came in a nice BIG box ...

How heavy is the top? Do you think two people could put it on by themselves?

IIRC its about 60lbs, and you need 2 people, no more no less

Ignoring the rear defroster connection, you think its possible to fabricate something to mount it on earth magnets (thereby making it a one person + hoist install/removal job)?

no, i think it is too heavy for any magnet to hold it .. with the shifting of the car and g - forces on turns it will pop off. if you have the windows open and the wind pick up say good by to the top.

Two people are needed just to set it on the car, you could do the same with a hoist, they makes ones especially for hardtops, they grip from the sides.

The defroster is connected with the rear locks, you turn those one at a time after the top sitting on the car

^ yes it came with the tool and the lock covers looks very nice and clean inside with a liner black in color.
