Any concrete info on future M3 engines?
Seems I read here last week we should get some confirmation on the final engine for the 201? M3 this week. Am I dreaming?
I'm probably going to order another M3 this fall anyway, just wondering? Thanks. |

No way we will hear about the new engine for the F32 M3 this week. It will be a variation on the upcoming X3M engine, a turbo 6cyl.

speculations; nothing is concrete.
ANd no, BMW will not use a V6; this theory was thought of, and never made it into production. |

Yes.

That's just one theory. It happens to be the least likey of the two prevailing possibilities (I6 3.0-3.2L or V6 3.3L ), while also being the one most often erroneously suggested by media outlets as having been confirmed by BMW. |

Tipple-Turbo 3.3l V6.
Nissan Skyline > Nissan GT-R I6 > V6 Toyota Supra > Toyota Supra II (if still comes) I6 > V6 Honda NSX > Honda HSC (if still comes) V8 > V6 Audi S5 2010 > Audi S5 2012 V8 > V6 |

My wife drives a 135i convertible, and I get in once in awhile and play around. But it's not an M3. Last edited by Lovegreatcars; 07-20-2011 at 03:09 PM.. Reason: had more to say |

I can't see BMW going for something that inelegant. V6 engines should really be 60 degrees but then it couldn't be made on the same machining equipment.. |

Ok, cool. I guess I still don't see how that's a factor, but that's not important right now. Regardless of whether the next one has a 1.6L I4 hybrid, a 600hp V12 turbo, or something in between, you should pick the E92 M3 today and skip the 335is.
