Should I get BMW Apps?
Guys,
I've already ordered my car with a production # attained already. The car is due for production the first week of August so I still have some time to make any changes. I've ordered the Convenience Pkge (Includes Nav) but having discussed BMW Apps initially with my wife-she didnot think it was worth $250. I know that 6NR comes loaded as noted here http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=492861 Question is if I can save up now and possibly install a much more advanced version of the Apps later aftermarket for cheaper? Thanks! |

I am all for only buying what you need and not getting carried away, but if you are on the fence and may regret it I'd say get the BMW Apps. What's $250 once you've spent north of $60k?

I would say get it from factory if you are planning on using the OEM cradle for your iPhone -another $250- or if you do not want to go thru the retrofitting route.
Otherwise the cost of retrofitting it by an aftermarket vendor without the requirement of the baseplate or the cradle for iPod Out is about the same $250 of the option. |

I just did a quick google search. Guess what-BMW charges $197 for it. Tisher BMW only charges $156 http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462
I figure with the BMW CCA discount-this should be way cheaper |

I also just ordered a E90 last week and spent some time debating if I should get certain $2000-2500 options like ZCP, Conveniance, etc.. But $250 for the BMW Apps, I didn't even think about it twice.
Like others said, what's $250 when you're spending $65K? Besides, I think there may be some cool Apps in the future and maybe some nice hacks for it (Laptimer would be nice) |

I just posted a similar question. I actually just got a 2011 X5 (build day june 2011, so it has the latest combox, hardware, etc. as well as the connected drive and usb port). The car did not come with the apps option and I am trying to see if this is an easy to code option (without the need for extra hardware, etc). If anyone has details I would appreciate, have asked around sponsors but their quote seems way high for just enabling this.
OP, just order it |

Thank you for your feedback fellas. You're right-I just contacted a 3rd party vendor on m3post with a quote on retrofitting BMW Apps. Despite having a combox-he quoted $600!!!
On that note-I'm electing BMW Apps Did I say I love you guys!! |

Do you have an iPhone? If not, then you really have no use for it.

Yup, $600 sounds ridiculous to me when a new vehicle already comes with everything I think you should need. Like I said, to me it seems like a coding task, but I am awaiting a breakdown from the vendors as to the price and what it entails

After that price quote-the aftermarket set up did not make any sense to me.
