Need your help!-Planning an awesome roadtrip

Guys,

My car is in production now with a possible delivery date either 2nd or 3rd week in September. I'm doing a performance center delivery which involves quite a lot of miles to travel back home to Baltimore. We've requested a Friday delivery.

PCD usually ends at 3pm from what I understand so our goal then is to leave after that for VA Beach. Thing is VA beach is 8hrs drive from Greer, SC. So we need to find a place to bunk between Greer,SC and VA Beach for the night on Friday night (assuming PCD confirms Friday delivery). Wifey does not want me driving for more than 4hours. That being said-need your recommendations for towns/cities along the way to bunk at. Any recommended hotels at these recommended towns/cities? Charlotte is out of the running for now.

The idea is to have a max of 4hrs between each leg of the journey. We need recommendations to bunk overnight between A and B. Also looking for recommendations at/near VA Beach.

Note: Its one thing looking online for research but I want to have a locals perspective or someone who's done the same journey.
