Cobb tuning
I read a lot on cobb tuning. I have a 135 2008 and my concern is reliability
and drivability. More power means more boost and more stress on the engine. what is your experience as user? Sorry for my english |

Had it for a year, no problems. Makes a quick car into a fast car. Never overheats. If beta maps come out, wait a couple months before trying them yourself . The v.301 maps out now are A++

Same here. Been using for about a year and put about 10k on engine while using Cobb. I have also been using stage 2 since September and I have had no problems.

This is good to hear. Looking into this mod but not until my warranty runs out next year.

Anyone know if the Cobb software for the 2012's will ever come out, or is the demand not enough? Seems like most people are using other software upgrades.

It's a whole new ECU so they need to crack the code first. JB4 and Proceed are piggybacks. I've heard that Cobb waits for another company to crack the code then they look at the ecu on that car to see how to do it. I really did Cobb products and I'm not trashing them, that's just what I heard.

I started using Cobb earlier this year on my '08 and love it. I have progressed from Stage 1 to Stage II with the required bolt-on's and it runs fine. I uninstalled the Cobb for Winter since I dont need the extra hp or torque and would like my Winter tires to last a bit longer. Can't wait for April 1`st !
FYI...there is no correlation between using the Cobb AP and HPFP failure or cylinder mis-fires. These two issues occur with and without the Cobb AP. Just trollers out there trying to start arguments.

Cobb will turn the check engine light off but you will not be able to pass inspection. If you have inspections in your state you will need to buy the DP fix.

Anyone using the Cobb have any issues with service work at the dealership? Any codes found by dealers during service? I know running the JB+ at 3/4 setting yielded a shadow code for me, which I cleared with my BT cable. I also know the Cobb can reset the ECU back to stock, but is there a way for the dealer to tell that this has been done? I'm looking to buy a Cobb within the next few months but still a little reserved about it due to the worry of throwing tuner codes.

As far as I know, in almost a year of the Cobb being on the market, nobody has been denied warranty service due to detection of a tune. When you unmarry it from the car, it's like it was never there.

I put 16k miles on my 08 with no HPFP failures. Installed Cobb AP, ran for 2 weeks and my HPFP died. Replaced HPFP, but kept Cobb. Car showed signs of long cranking and fuel pressure fluctuation only after hard driving. Removed Cobb. Car currently has 19k miles, with no signs of HPFP failure. Opinion: I dont blame the Cobb tune for my HPFP failure. We all know the HPFP can fail even on a stock car. I believe running any high performance tune, or demanding more from a fuel pump that already has issues, is asking for trouble. I wont run the AP, until my 1 is no longer needed as a daily driver, or a HPFP fix is available.

My car received the newest updated hpfp in Sept 2010 before I bought it. I have been running a cobb tune since Jan 2011 with no issues. I don't think that the tune has anything to do with hpfp failure.
