What is BMW doing???
I came here after months of being away to find out the 1M is a flash in the pan? And then the coupe is going away this year in favor of a 5 door? The 3 looks more like a 5 this year size wise...
Is BMW alienating the performance coupe buyer? I miss the e46 days |

While I miss my M3, your reply really brings me back to the M3forum days and the one thing I do not miss - the self righteous attitude of BMW owners. I was looking for *opinion* from coupe owners as to BMW's product strategy around coupes. What exactly should search on? Thanks for the memories though

BMW is certainly not abandoning the performance coupe market. |

I'm not really interested in the current gigantic coupes like the 6 or even the e92. The 1959 Cadillac Coupe Deville is technically a coupe....
So I guess the F20 (F22?) is the next gen? Any rumors on how large / heavy the F2x will be compared to the E8x? |

Unnecessary/unwarranted reply IMO. Why do people always feel the need to suggest the search function? I don't get it. It's like a guy has to prove he's been around the boards longer than someone else. Too many offenders to name. Lame.

My other hobby car is a '56 chevy, and the boards I belong to for the chevy are FILLED with the nicest, easiest going, most helpful people, and those cars cost 2-3 times as much as a 1 series when restored.. My point there is the cockiness isn't a money issue, but an apparent status issue, I guess. |

Wow...bunch of sensitive guys around here I see. There were no bad intentions behind my comment. He suggested that BMW was drifting away from the performance coupe, and I suggested that he could search/read on the subject, which would have immediately turned up the results that are discussed on a daily basis regarding the 1M and other models coming down the pipeline. I apologize for suggesting the obvious, given that common sense is not really that common (no pun intended) these days.

Sounds like the 1 series is over for the US to be replaced by Coupe only newly re-named 2 series sometime next year. And yes the 1M was always meant to be a limited Test car for the M group.

I couldn't agree with you more. There are quite a few M3 converts here driving around in 1M's and 135i's. I had a new E90 M3 for only 11 months before I dumped it for the 1M. You're not necessarily going to find what you're looking for in the existing or upcoming M3 either. The M3 will not be getting smaller or lighter any time soon. .

It's def. working. Their def. doing something right.
Guys go look at every other company. Everyone is getting fatter (safer as well) and less "sporty". be happy with what BMW is offering you, as you are the minority. |
