Worst to First in 5 Minutes: CP-E Axleback
Pictures and possibly video to follow... a local shop just installed my new cp-e axle back, with the black chrome tips and stealth pipe on my otherwise stock N55 with PPK. On the way home, with back seats down to carry my stock exhaust home, the cp-e is absolutely booming, completely intolerable! At this point, I'm trying to decide if I have it removed this afternoon, or wait a couple of days before putting it up for sale on 1Addicts.
I decided to at least get the other exhasut out of the car, put the seats back up and try again... Completely transformed! No more booming, no drone, just a deeper tone, slightly more volume, more exhaust burble travelling all the way down the exhaust, and great sound and feel when the DCT makes a quick shift... a nice deep pop shooting down the exhaust. Very happy so far. Will cold start in the morning and see how many neighbors I wake up.

I really didn't think the difference would be that pronouced, but when you think of all that leather, foam and framework, it really acts like a very large muffler. It was not pleasant.

If you don't mind me asking. How much did it run you? I'm looking at possibly changing my exhaust from the BMW Performance to the CP-E with the black tips. What difference does the stealth pipe make?

I paid full retail of $849, including the black tips, directly from CP-E, who had one in stock and ready to go. The stealth pipe is supposed to lessen / eliminate drone. It also supplies a third hanger to more securely attach the exhuast.

I went through the exact same thing when I got my Berk Race Exhaust installed. Driving home I was thinking "WTF have I done?"...
After I gor the OEM exhaust out of the car and put the seats back up I couldn't stop grinning |

Very hard to tell, as the exhaust note makes the car "feel" faster... probably picks up 5 HP or so, but really impossible to know without a dyno.
