Pandora app

I just received my new M5(SG and Orange interior with a little IND love too)...love it. One of the questions I have is in regards to the pandora app on the iphone. When I plug in the iphone 4S via USB and try to run the pandora app I get an error message on the phone. On the IDrive it says App not supported. The Pandora app is updated and most recent one....

Any ideas or anyone seen this? Have asked the dealer but no luck yet.

I'm having the same issue with my car. Haven't had any updates from them. I thought it was because I was running iOS 6 beta but it's not that.

Unless you have "BMW Apps" car feature and the phone in a snap-in cradle, I don't think you car car controls / Nav screen metadata for Pandora. Maybe try a charge-only USB cable and Bluetooth audio?

I do have the BMW apps and snap craddle and it does not work. Says on the iphone "connection error. Update app...." and on idrive says "app not supported"

I just returned the snap in (because I want the new iphone) and am using the USB cable but still same problem.

That's strange, it should definitely be working through both the cradle or USB, works both ways for me. I haven't tried it with iOS 6 so if you're running a beta or the Gold Master that was released to devs yesterday that could be an issue; the iOS 5 update broke Pandora through BMW Apps until Pandora released an update. Otherwise, if you've got the latest version of iOS 5 and Pandora, try making sure it's not running (including killed in the background) then connect the phone before launching Pandora. The iPhone display should almost immediately switch to a BMW logo and then you should find Pandora both in the Radio menu and the ConnectedDrive menu.

Otherwise, what's the specific error you get on the phone?

Pandora owned up to it being an incompatibility in the app with the new navigation/iDrive system. They hope to fix it very soon.

Works fine with the previous iDrive system. That's why yours works, jphughan.

Thanks for the update with Pandora. I just had my salesguy try pandora on a new 7 series and he got the same error. So ya, must be a problem with the new idrive.

FWIW, it doesn't work in my 2013 550 either. What does work is Pandora streaming via bluetooth. You will not get album art, but you will be able to forward to the next song.

Agree, works for me with Blue tooth streaming.

I can confirm version 4.0.1 of Pandora now works with the new iDrive. It's available in the App Store as an update.
