I've always loved the styling of the XFR including the interior styling, but when it comes to performance, the XFR just isn't there yet. They basically use a Mustang engine and the transmission although fast and smooth is still a 6 speed that isn't very exciting. It has shift paddles, but there's no lever on the center console. Additionally, it's still a big V8 engine, and it doesn't get very good gas milage. About the only thing they did good was put an Active Differential on it, like the F10 M5 has. I've also heard that the reliability of the previous generation XFR wasn't very good. Lots of electronic gremlins I heard. But I seriously, love the styling. Looks kind of like a version of a Ford Mustang with 2 extra doors and wearing an expensive tuxedo.

Nope. My wife's '11 RRS SC uses the same drive train as the XFR. While the engine is very good I am not thrilled with the ZF transmission. Using the paddles, even while in the sport settings, is nothing close to the SMG and DCT. Works fine in the RRS, but coming from the E60 M5 this left much to be desired. I'd sum it up as disengaging and boring. I ask myself, "why am I manually shifting?" and just put it back in D.
Styling-wise, IMHO it looks good but is not as aggressive as I like. |

My Azurite Black is on the Toronto due to arrive at the end of the month. Coming from 08 M5. I drove both the XF and the XJ in several configurations. In short, they really surprised me in a positive way. I thought the interior of the XJ was very well done but couldn't get past the styling of the rear - particularly the tail light setup. The XF Supercharged was a very well rounded car. Good build quality, great performance, handling was smooth and predictable. The XF-R ride quality suffered and didn't seem that much quicker than the Supercharged. I believe it was a 40 horse difference. Felt every expansion joint in the XF-R whereas the XF Supercharged was much smoother. The interior of the XF was lacking and seemed very spartan on the technology front.
In the end, I decided to move forward with the M5 based on a test drive in a 550i. I also have quite a bit of brand loyalty - read biased opinion - to overcome. This is my 4th M car (03, 06, 08 and now 13) as well as a 550i, 540i/6, 330i and a 325i. |

Jags have become much nicer in the past few years, but they are sub par to anything in its class in all aspects IMO. You can get much better product for the money you will spend on a Jaguar. The new XFR is very nice, but I wouldn't entertain it if you sold it to me at half price.

That car is like going shopping with the wife. You do it because you've been promised a reward. Yet, it's never received. Then, you have to live with your mistake which you try desperately to reconcile with self gratification. And in the end you get caught by your wife...
I think I've gone to far. |

I have a brand new set of Azurite reflectors from IND for sale. I bought them for my own M5 order, but I ended up going with a Silverstone F10 M5 instead. Anyway, let me know if you are interested. I'll save ya some money, and get some of my dough back. Azurite is such an incredible color! Congrats!

XKR-S - yes. But, at the end of the day headroom and 4 doors wins out for my purposes. I think the XKR-S is still a beautiful car, but the duelist/practicality isn't there for my daily driver (like it is in the M5). Add poor approach angle, and the same answer applied for a Nissan GT-R. |
