Man, I am flying over to BMW HQ and opening a can of whoop-ass on them. The new M3 while a fantastic car in isolation is just not cutting it anymore. BMW forgot that even though most M3s will be sold in America, Europe is where it will win or lose the phsuchological battle of who is King. BMW fouled up, plain and simple. It should have built a proper S4/S5 rivalling GT on the basis of the 335 (335iS?) and a proper sports car under the M3 badge.

This article is rediculous. Still Car cannot even get something as simple as the weight correct. Still no real performance figures for the M3 at least.
The GTi "seriously harried" the M3 and the author had difficulty keeping pace with the GTi while he was driving the GT3. Sure. Car magazine had a front page feature months ago about the leaked "secret plans" for the M3 that showed the license plate on the rear bumper as well. What a joke. Thanks for going to the effort of posting the article, though. |

That was simply the worst comparison/review ever in the history of car mags. FFS, I wish someone could do a review on car magazines and compare a gardening mag with a medical journal.
Thanks for the scan.

Bro, forget what u think about cars for a sec... it has a damn mini F1 engine in it. It's the perfect engine.!!(understand, this engine we developed to have an enormous future. The dome might single a biturb version in a few years...etc) Understand the philosophy behind it. Study the revband, this car is so "it" we don't reconize what we are seeing. I didn't like it at all, Didn't like the high reving engine..etc. I started reading and thinking about the tech and engineering that went behind this car. Look closely... you'll see it! -Garrett |

I see people continue to read reviews and create a bad impression out of a few complaints that are not consistent from reviewer to reviewer.

That article was all over the place. Don't have time to type up the comments now but it was sort of like throwing a can of paint on a canvas.

I love the high rev engines. I am just saying that BMW should have made the new M3 more hardcore to keep ahead of the competition, fly high in the sky avoiding the battle like with the E46 and not get stuck duking it out in the trenches with the rest like e92 is doing right now. You just can't have refinement AND excitement. Audi seems to be doing a better job, a comfy GT sporty car like S4/S5 and a more focused sports car with the RS series. |

RS4, you can't bring the whole range into one car. So let’s stick to the cab as "tested" in the mag. A friend of mine has a GT3 and I would rather walk than drive on public roads in that race car. R8 you right but what’s the price?

Hey, they mag sets the stage properly right from the begining saying this is going to be a very odd comparison as only a couple of the cars are direct competitors. I agree with the other posters that this rag did totally screw up that cover with the license plate on the bumper and they botched the weight vs. the RS4 as well. All that being said I enjoyed the comparison. I especially like these parts,
"It's one of the best cars any sum of money can buy and, although it can't compete with R8 for visual appeal, it has the Audi licked for entertainment." Totally fine with me, I don't care for the looks of the R8 much anyway, nor the "exclusivity". This along with the preliminary performance numbers coming from the M3 vs. the R8 makes it look like from a pure performance perspective, as well as a fun to drive perspective the, M3 > R8, and that is an accomplishment. |

I think it is talking about the GT3. Kinda confusing though. You can see that the next paragraph goes on to talk about the most expensive car wins. That isn't the M3.

Not sure
Definitely confusing, i.e. poor writing. I read that section carefully multiple times and was sure then but now not so sure. That entire paragraph begins by talking about the M3 but does transition into talking about the GT3. The next paragraph goes on about the winner, the most expensive car, the GT3. Also is it reasonable that the car in question that can't compete visually with the R8 is the GT3? Sounds more like the M3 to me!
